Postby mahoney » Sat Jul 10, 2010 6:57 pm

I have a 2004 liberty wagon manual and got it serviced the other week. just wanted to know do they chew the oil? Cause i checked the oil today it its a bit on the low side. I havnt had it for long. It only has 72000kms on it.
Any suggestions?

All engines burn oil. I think it all depends on how they are run in on the amount they use. My old engine I never added any oil between 5000k oil changes.

Mmm Yes and no, As Shaneo said, all cars burn oil, thats just the process.
My 2.5 has done 90x kms, and she burns through a noticeable amount between services. Haven't measured it accurately yet, but it does run quite rich on start up.

What grade of oil are you running atm?

The 2.5T has 0.5 litre between L and F marks on the dipstick, mine ends up 2/3rds up the stick between these points at service time - so uses ~ 150mls in 6250kms
