I wonder if the auto on headlights have any negative effects on factory HIDs? I see a lot of cars with the auto headlights go under bridges on the freeway and the lights will come on for a split second, then go off.

I love the autowipers on the Gen V - it works really well, especially in intermittant showers.

Auto lights - meh - don't really care... I tend to drive with them on most of the time anyway...

Hi Digital.

Mine are fine. I installed a set of Phillips HID kit to my Lib and the lights are accurate. They have never gone off under a tunnel that is short (if that is what you are saying) and sometimes I see cars with their lights still on after the tunnel, but mine from this mob I got them from are mad. If they were a problem, I dont think the car manufacturers would have all these cars with HID and Autolights.

Hey, LIB 3.0? $199? That's cheaper than what I paid :( Must be because of the exchange rate or they are buying more to get a better deal. Now that you have mentioned the company has called you and disclosed they will sell to public, I can say I paid $249. Still I am happy with that.

Hmmm....

Seen all the comments and it would appear there are two core camps, those that like and those that disspassionately do not like.

For me, I like the auto everything (I drive an auto). Call it lazy, call it comfort, but I have been a "manual" person for most of my life, and now, I like auto!

So, this is going on my To Do list.

Mates, some cool prices shown here. Lib 3.0R seems to be the leader so far with the cheapest. So how and from who do I order? PM please if you do not want to be public about it!

Kind Regards,

Mark.

I'm with Mark on this one, as I like to have "auto" everything myself. Doesn't come down to laziness or anything, I just like having a clever device that does it all for you. After installing it, I was quite surprised how simple & clever it really is. After the initial set-up & calibration, the setting was perfect. Wipers come on & off just at the right point, no more constant fiddling with the wipers when the road/rain conditions change. It's an added value feature in my books.

I'm sure there are probably a few different kits avail out there, so just make sure whatever kit you're looking at, it's got the manual over-ride switches for hi/low sensitivity settings. Mine has got separate over-ride switches for the lights & wipers, and the hide-away module also has more sensitivity adjustments as well. This offers full flexibility and control to suit any personal preferences.

Some of you have Pm'd me for some pics of my install. So here they are:

Switches installed in ashtray. (Note: There are 3 switches in this pic, but only 2 of them are for the auto lights/wipers. The other is for something unrelated).

Image

Placement of Sensor module on the windscreen. Pretty small & compact to others that I've seen around.

That's a VERY neat install of the switches in the ashtray. I've seen people install stuff in there before and more often than not it's really butchered.

And pray-tell, what is this "Other" function?

Nice install btw. Did you do the switches and location yourself, or were the switches provided with your kit? Much trouble to pull the centre console apart for the install?

The 2 switches are included with the kit. I came up with the idea of putting the switches in the ashtray, but the installer did all the work. I don't really trust myself when it comes to installs etc. I'm too afraid that I'll end up stuffing it up or damaging something along the way.

The 3rd switch is for some LED footwell lights that I got installed.

Good luck with the install. I know you'll enjoy these as much as I am.

+1

I never gave a crap about auto lights and wipers until I got a car with them.
Now I will never buy another car without it, driving into tunnels, carparks, etc all done automatically.

Wipers turn on and off and speedup and slow down when in stop start traffic is simply... AWESOME!
It was a real pain to do this manually in traffic with intermittent rain.
And sensitivity is adjustible to your liking in addition to manual override for those of you who 'like to be in control'.

yes im lazy.....

Just a note on that, the main cluster (ie speedo, tacho, fuel, temp guage) is always illuminated. Its only the A/C and Radio controls that light up when you switch your lights on.

But i agree with most on this topic, it is a pretty cool feature.

Why dont you have your lights on 100% of the time anyway? you just never turn them off.

Actually, in 10 years my liberty has had the headlight switch turned off maybe 3-4 times total, ever.

They auto off when the car is off, so dont ever need to be touched.

I turn mine off because it's an extra drain on the battery when trying to start the car, and having the headlights powering on. Or so my dad tells me.

It's noticeable in his Subaru, lights will kind of dim and flicker for a second if you try and start the car with them on.
