light bulb replacement

Postby mikee » Fri Jun 25, 2010 12:56 pm

hi guys,

just need to replace the front left light globe and rear left brake light globe. Where do I get replacements from? auto stores or subaru?

Is there a standard Gen 4 globe that I need to get?

Thanks for your help!

Auto stores are a better option than Subaru. Take great care unclipping the retention wire on the headlight globes. The wire and/or the plastic that holds it in place is known to be fragile. All is not lost if you snap it off but you will need to tape it down or something similar. Proper repair involves replacement of the headlight assembly or cannibalisation of another assembly (not quite as rare as hen's teeth)

HID FTW !!!
Just replace my headlights and fog lights with them, just over $100 for the 2 kits and I'm more than satisfied.

Seriously it's a 30min job, if you are in Sydney I would be more then happy to do it for you. Just make sure you get the slim ballast, makes it alot easier to mount and conceal

Leo (HKS180 on here) sells a good quality unit with slim line ballasts - I lined up a trip to Sydney to see my sister and he did my install in no time at when I picked them up. I went the 4300k 'colour' as they are bright without going into the purple looking side.

Besides the 2 people that sell them on this forum, you could look for them on eBay. They can be had for around $60 delivered a kit. I would suggest 5000k though as they are the closest to white light with a tinge of yellow, 4300k IMO is a bit too yellow. If you like a ice blue look go for 6000k but I wouldn't recommend anything higher than this. Let me know when you get it and we can arrange a time to have them installed.

Still quite a bit of yellow in person if you ask me. However in saying that, I find the 4300K a bit better for illumination. But if you're looking for more white and pretty, go with 5000K or higher.

I've been considering it for a long time, but I don't want to run into problems with insurance/police etc.
