Just recently, I had to replace my whole motor due to the fact that the oil burnt out so fast.
mine was between 5-6000kms after i had an oil change when oil pressure dropped and the crank seized rendering everything useless.Pays to check oil once a week. and as Ric said, Subaru, in fact all car companies have a way out of everything and say this substantial drop would be 'normal' usage.

10W-30 for a car thats 5 years old?... Try a thicker oil.

10w-30 is the specified oil. Going thicker to address something that isn't even an issue is going to have other side effects.

just bought a bottle of the Mobil Devlac. 10-40w. $35.
flogging the car like i do or spirited driving requires something alittle thicker.
