Brembo's what to look out for

Postby ez30rb » Sun Jun 06, 2010 6:03 pm

Hey,

I found a set of brembos off an o4sti, and a few steps away from purchasing them. Is there anything I should be looking out for before I go ahead?

Also, I've searched previous posts and see that I would need a dogbone to fit the rears, where can I get these and how much would I be expected to pay?

Cheers!
Justin

Make sure they include the shims, pins and brake line connection points.
Check if the brakes are discoloured - first sign of hard use ie. track work.
If brake fluid has leaked across them, then the paint 'may' start to flake. Likewise getting to hot and stone damage.
Check the piston seals for oxidisation and cracks.
Dodgy sellers.

Thanks all.

I'm waiting for pics at the moment, and asked the seller these questions as well.

So we'll see how it goes..

One seller is asking for $1600 with everything(still waiting on pics), the other has everything except the rear rotors(off a gdb sti ra) and is asking me to make a legit offer.(still waiting on pics) What are the 2nd hand brembo's worth these days?

Here's the pic from the seller offering at $1600 . "they are in good condition, few marks on the calipers nothing a bit of paint wouldnt fix tho
everything is included pads, shims etc, just plug your lines on and away you go"

Is this a good deal?

How much meat is left on the discs....those calipers look pretty average....lots of chips etc......do you need to run dogbones on the rears.....I only ask because I needed to on my 07 Forester.

Pretty sure you don't. A lot of members here have done the same conversion with no issues. And the Tb STi came with Brembos and I'm pretty sure they have the same MC
