mesh grill badge install

Postby dutch7 » Tue May 18, 2010 7:18 pm

Hi all, I purchased a GT badge recently from japanparts and intend on installing it on my CF mesh grill. the problem i have is that the plugs on the badge obviously arn't suited for such an install, just wondering if anyone has had the same issues with other badges or know of any sort of plastic/metal clips available to hold the badge in place on the mesh grill. below are photos of the badge and grill, any help would be much apreciated...

Hey dutchy!! We're you been mate?? You bought that house yet??

I digress.... Can you use 3M double sided external rated tape? i.e place the badge so the 'plugs' go into the holes in the mesh, and use the tape to stick it to the mesh?

Cheers

How permanent did you need it? I was thinking take it to a local muffler shop and have them tack weld it to the mesh.

Or get a small strip of metal and cut out two holes slightly smaller than the diameter of the two plugs on the rear of the badge. Insert the pins into the holes of the mesh and place the backing strip on to hold it secure. Re-inforce with 3M double sided tape.
Sorry i really do need diagrams to explain what i mean, but i hope you get it.

Heya, yeh been laying low for a while, no property just yet, still working on that ;)

...not sure about the 3M tape solution as the badge wouldn't be big enough to cover the strips, I might see if my neighbour can weld it on somehow.....without melting the plastic badge that is, otherwise I'll hunt around in Bunnings for some sort of clips to hold the plugs in place on the mesh. :)

a few strips of black silicon on the back of the grill and stick it on? then a little more through the back of the grill onto the badge for a little more hold?

i did that with my subaru badge onto my mesh grill.. you cant tell it is on there the silicon that is.

Pull the bouble sided tape off the badge completely. Remove the grille and lay it mesh up. Put two dobs of black silicon or sikaflex on the back and stick it to the mesh and leave it overnight. It'll hold no worries. Thats how ive done my last 3 grilles.

Just make sure its straight, not like that STi badge. ;)

That car is not a MY04 model but you can get something similar for your car.

Try ULTREX he is in the vendor section. He may have something similar.
