A boring topic - floor mats

I've got 3M nomad car mats (don't think you can get them here atm), the driver side has a heel pad.

Mine are now a bit more than 2 years old

they're still carpet mats, but got a bit of rubber/plastic in the middle of mat for driver. i hope you dont need me to post a pic, i'm afraid of JT stealing pics of my floor mat. hehe

what the bloody hell are you guys doing to your floor mats for them to be wearing out so quick.. ha ha..

ive had my car since september 05, and mine are fine!!! and trust me that have had a beating..

they are certainly worn in, but far from the point of needing replacement.. i might just go to supercheap, and hook myself up with some fully sick plastic cheker plate ones

Mine come with the rubber doovie on the drivers side, and that stupid hook thing that i swear at, at least once a week when i take a chunk out of my foot on it..

are we talking about the carpet in the car or the removable mat on top of the carpet? as LIBER8ED said what are you doing to wear them out, mine is 2 years in nov, only done 20,000 and hardly a mark on the mat.having said that i dont have a clutch pedal going up and down hundreds of times a day, that probably makes a difference

Good question. I was talking about the removeable carpet floor mats. The carpet floor in the car has a plastic/rubber heel pad under the pedals, but the lovely black floor mats that I bought from Subaru don't. They do however clip into the two attachement points in the drivers footwell so they don't move around. They also have a little Subaru badge riveted onto the floor mat, but no protective heel pad.

I suppose that is what happens when you let a "designer" come up with something.

i had to have a look and they do have a fair size rubber pad that covers both feet in the older style mat. you have to wonder why they want to change something that works. maybe so they can sell you more when they wear out

thats strange, I got the rubber patch in the centre of the drivers mat.

Yeah fish, the MY07 got a new set of floor mats with no rubber patch, i thought this was a bit odd when i got mine cause my MY05 mats had the rubber.

Ive noticed wearing aswell on my mat & thats only after 6000 odd kms.

Might hit subaru up for a new set at my next service.

gees that sux. do subaru still stock the my05 mats?

Meh I prefer no rubber mats. Looks cheapy. Just not as durable but looks way better.

i know they protect the carpet, and there is nothing worse looking than threadbare carpet especially when you look after the rest of the car, but rubber mats remind me of people who buy a beautiful leather lounge then put crappy looking covers on them to protect the leather. whats the point of buying leather if youre not going to sit on it

thats a good point. but, i still dont understand how they can wear out.. i am forever getting in and out of it, and im hardly easy on the mats.. i guess at the end of the day they are doing what they were designed to do, ok a given that the shouldnt be wearing out as quick, but they are still an industrial style carpet that should have a lil more durability than the soft crap underneath.. mind you i dont know what the new mats are like either in comparison to mine..
