Lock wheel nuts

Postby Buje » Sat May 15, 2010 6:15 am

I want to put some wheel lock nuts on my car.

Any recommendations?

I have seen on youtube how easy they are to remove but it will at least slow them down if they want to steal them.

The STI nuts look good but $380.00 is a bit steep.

I can get you the exact same ones as the STi wheel nuts, minus the STi logo for about $200 delivered. They are made by McGard.

LOL! Why can't you just Google it?

But the McGard ones are the same as the STi ones (I think STi uses McGards and just brands them), with the spline design. Comes in various colours.

Yep the STI ones are just branded McGuard standard spline nuts.

They are very easy to get off without the special key tool. If you have nice wheels I suggest the McGard Ultra High Security which have a spinning hardened collar and makes it near impossible to take off without cutting the nut off and risk damaging the stud/wheel.

The one I get has a full set of 16 standard SplineDrive, plus four security locks with unique keys.

So for $78 for a set of four locknuts... versus $200 for a full set of 20 lock+lugnuts... you do the math :P

If they were the same lock nuts as your set then yours would be the better value (I have JDM STi ones in gunmetal so pretty much the exact same set as yours). However I like the added security of the spinning collar and wouldn't mind paying extra to protect the ol' Connoisseurs. :P
