Aftermarket Clutch and Flywheel kit+ Modification?

Postby vp920b » Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:28 am

Hi all,

I just want to know, which EXEDY clutch part no for 2.5L liberty 2004 MY05?

And someone can explain to me about Single mass flywheel, or flex flywheel?

I search in ebay, there is one seller in Melbourne near city who sold this kit but they ask about which flywheel do you want.

So which one is the best? For durability and make the pedal feel better. And which one should I choose, OEM replacement clutch or Heavy duty replacement?

I just want to know and maybe in 100K-ish I will change it. Now, sometimes there is a sound from flywheel like squeak sound if I push the gas too much from idle then move.

Thanks all

Naldo

Speak to Jim at Jim Berry Clutches in QLD.

He will talk your ear off, but knows his stuff. Many rally cars use his units and he will supply the unit to suit what you want from the car.

I believe Subaru dropped the Dual Mass flywheels near the end of the Gen3s due to ongoing problems. Yours would be a solid flywheel I believe.

Jim supplied a reco solid flywheel (looked brand spanking) and clutch kit to match shipped to Sydney for a very reasonable price.

They must have reintroduced them because I have a dual mass in my car and I hate it. They definitely have dropped them (again) in later models, 2006 I think.

Allright mate,

But I want to know about Flex flywheel, since Exedy got 2 flywheel, Solid/single flywheel or flex flywheel.

And which one better to take? OEM Replacement or Heavy duty clutch?

Thank you.

Best one for feel is single mass solid flywheel, which requires a specific clutch disc and pressure plate to match it. What you are looking for is a single mass solid flywheel conversion kit which includes everything.

Get the OEM one, not heavy duty for which there is no need because you haven't done engine mods. The OEM clutch pressure is plenty for our engines.

Allright Jim, thanks for the info.

One more question, I want to change my light using HID 4300K or 6000K, can I use 35W or I need to use 55W like the same lights?

The size of the light is H7 right? And is it legal in Victoria for aftermarket HID?

Thanks

No it is not legal to change to HID. Your best bet to increase lighting performance is Osram Rallye 65W H7 globes. If you convert to HID they look bright but they perform badly, unless you change the whole lens assembly as well.

Re: Aftermarket Clutch and Flywheel kit+ Pulley

Postby vp920b » Tue Mar 30, 2010 11:11 pm

Thanks Jim for the advise. I will consider that lights.

Btw, have anyone change their pulley to the lightweight? Since changing lightweight pulley will make your car better acceleration.

I want to buy the non underdrive crank pulley, from go fast bits-GFB. Weights only 550grams, rather than standard that we got on 2.5 NA, 2.1kilo's(only quarter than standard). Part no. 2009. Just plug n play(what is says).

Then if you guys to choose, which one will you change, Pulleys for extra acceleration, or set of wheels? I got an offer 17" wheels, speedy lite fin with 80% yokohama C-drive tyres, only around 500 ONO. It weights only 8 kilos per wheels, rather than standard around 4-5 kilo's more than this wheels.

I need your input here.

Thanks

Personally I'd get lighter wheels rather than changing the crankshaft pulley.
