Faulty Central door lock (left rear door)

Hi all,

Just want to ask,

Have anyone had the same problem like me, the rear left door central lock was broke or something?

If I press from my key unlock, it won't open. After I open it from inside, it's fine.

But when I locked it from remote, it will not lock, so it will stay open and I need to do twice pressing the button.

Do anyone know how to fix this? Because my car sometimes parked outside.

I have a similar problem with my rear right door.

It always locks but often takes 2 x unlocks from the key to allow it to open.

I am hoping to rip the interior panel off and lube the mechanism up and see if that helps

I had the same problem when I bought my car with the rear right door. Luckily mine was under the statutory warranty period and they had to replace the actuator motor. No problems since then (April last year)

replaced under warranty and got a nice 09 wrx courtesy car

how much for the parts only? Since I don't have any connection for this faulty part.

i think subaru would charge around $150-200.

Just be wary, cos some of those extended warranties aren't actually handled by the dealer - they're usually a third party warranty provider

We purchased a 2005 liberty in march and it just went back today to get the 3rd door fixed as we have had a very similar prob. luckily though it has still been covered under the used car warranty.

both of my '05 2.0L rear doors had the actuators replaced under the extended warranty.

Faulty actuator/solenoid.

part was $160, or $180, or something like that.

Same problem left rear on 2004, not fixed, no warranty. Won't lock or unlock only manually.

Hitting the lock or unlock button twice, usually does it.

yes it does but only for a while, then it's 3 or more times and then not at all, plus the fact that you're eating up your remote battery (at least) twice as fast.(Small bananas i know when compared to the cost of fixing the door)

my major concern was that, in an emergency, doors that you thought were unlocked weren't, say something like if there was a fire up front and you leapt out to get your 3 kids out and the door couldn't be opened from the outside. (my kids a lot of the time piled in from the one side)
a rare set of circumstances i know but I'd hate to be in that situation... even once.
