Speaker sizes 3gen

Postby talev788 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 3:46 pm

Tonight I'm going to be making a trip to JB and find myself a good set of new speakers

Although to save myself from taking the trims off to check what size they are.. Does anyone know the sizes for front and rear for 3gen already??

Can''t be bothered taking the trims off before buying then taking them off again to install lol

you should be able to fit any 6''-6.5'' speaker with a thin spacer... I wouldn't stress too much about OEM speaker sizes.

What speakers are you looking at??? From my experience with JB they don't have a great range and they aren't great at advice either.

Are you running an amp? Aftermarket H/U?

Mods: (GT) HKS Panel Filter. The HKS I put in the MY10 is the same filter I took out of my MY05 GT. So yes, they do fit. Custom leather heel pad to minimise carpet wear in the drivers footwell. Slotted front rotors. (Sherpa) 14'' 6 Spoke mags, Chrome Gear Shift (sick!), Alloy Pedals (sicker!), new positive and negative battery terminals, Alpine cda-9827 H/U, JBL GT 6x9's boxed and mounted (sickest!), Kicker DS650.2 component speakers mounted in the footwells in flibreglass pods, Alpine MRP-F200 4 channel amp (4x40wRMS), Rebadged with hektik chrome eBay badges, STi stickers for more powaaaa, "leather" handbrake boot, recarpetted with grey/black car carpet from Bunnings, sick Clarke Rubber boot mat, polished and waxed.

Yeah I know but where I am from there ain't much of a range to choose from.. I was just gunna go in tonight and see what they got

I was thinkin about replacing all the door speakers and fitting in 6x9s in the parcel tray..

I don't know if I really need to run an amp im not TOO fussy

My advice would be to steer clear of 6x9's they will drag your staging too far back and you will end up fading them out and thus making them kind of redundant. Save your money on buying rears and invest the money you save on some better splits in the front. More sound up front will sound a lot better. The analogy I like to use is, when you go to a concert, where is the stage and the sound coming from???

Rears are for passengers, and they are just moochers anyways haha.
