Difference between 2006 and 2007 Liberty tuned by Sti

Postby himself » Fri Mar 26, 2010 11:03 pm

Hi all

First post. i did a search but didn't see any result that dealt with the topic.

i'm looking to buy a L2006 or 2007 iberty tuned by STi and apart from cosmetic changes like different rear light clusters, are there any other differences?

i think the 07 looks better but i'm finding it hard to justify the extra $ if just cosmetic changes.

Thanks,

Heaps,

2.5 vs 2.0
Brembos on the 07
6sp instead of 5sp in the manual (plus short shifter)
SI drive - hahaha

really? ... can you elaborate on other changes.

as you can probably tell, i don't know my Subbies very well but the STi really caught my eye . i'm beginning to wonder if all the positive things i've heard and read is attributable only to the 07.

is the 06 any good compared to a regular 2007 onwards GT-B? ...

What are your plans for the car? Modifications for big power gains, or just cosmetics or nothing at all, tracking?

The 06 tb sti was marketed at 200kw, but the 07 tb sti has 196kw, the 07 with the 2.5 litre which has more low punch (torque).

The Si drive function allows you to select different throttle levels/sensitivity
The gear box on the 07 sti are sti 6 speed box, with short shift, great box which is bullet proof.
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

This might help you - http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2471 I'd add that once you have a good mechanic and tuner, the price difference can be spent on mods, depending what you wanted to do of course!

Thanks, i think that thread was exactly something i was looking for in addition to the info in here.

i'm inclined to go the way OP in that thread went and opt for an 07 GT-B cos i'm looking for a fast luxury cruiser rather than a modding project.
