Cubby hole gauges

I did notice this when there was direct sunlight, but driving in the other direction I could read the clock just fine. Next time I have the issue with direct sunlight I'll close the door and see if it resolves the issue.

I already have a clock lower down on the voltage display under the head unit so it's not a problem. It's only the trip meter etc which would be difficult to see in direct sunlight, but oh well

OK just checked it out and the closed door does improve view of the clock markedly when there is sunlight even from side on. Not enough to annoy me though.

if you do a diy cubby then the trick is to able to get the gauges mounted at a slight angle to the drivers side you can actually see them reasonably well. Good work with install.

Yeah I was trying to get a hold of the Casopolis pod which is a fine piece of craftmanship and has the gauges angled, but he's stopped selling them.

I know what you mean about the viewing angle though, which is why I put the oil pressure on the right (rapidly changing reading) to minimise parallax error.

I track my car so I need to know if I am pushing the car too hard and need to go cool off, or whether I need to use a different type of engine oil for a given type of event or ambient temp. Also if I have ran the oil too hot know I will have risked it breaking down and will change the oil asap after the event.

Other than that even in everyday use I like to keep an eye on the health of the engine and drive accordingly.

p.s. The 2.5i is not worth wasting money doing engine mods on

If you come up with a viable DIY solution which angles the gauges *and* retains the door spring function then please share Do you have access to CNC?

Following on from earlier post the door would not stay open after the first week as the initial friction of the pod against the door hinge eventually worked loose. Every time I went over a slight bump the door would drop closed. How annoying!

I pulled the assembly back out and had to fabricate a bracket to retain the stock spring retainer system. Et Voila! After some jigsaw and Dremel action I had an arm made out of MDF which held the spring in place perfectly. At the same time I wrapped the pod in the same 3M Niloc carbon vinyl that is used on the console side trims.

Looks great, Jim! Love the CF background! Looks very clean and matches the CF trim you have for the interior. Still questionable about that BLUE shift boot though.
