I remember for some time you only had one gauge and were pondering what to fit into the second opening?

It's Mini's (in)famous convertible "openometer". It counts the amount of miles you've done with the top down

Gauges and oil adapter were from Nengun, I found that they were cheapest there.

Pod is from http://www.jcspods.com/subarugt.html. It is designed for the LHD. I found out the hard way that their cubby hole is very different to ours, and being the first RHD owner to buy this pod the seller didn't realise this. There was a LOT of Dremelling required to get this pod and the gauges to fit. But it does work. Downside is that you lose the spring function in the cubby door. Upside is that the door still stays up by itself at all times. The door can close to hide the gauges when parked.

Oil adapter is easy to install. If you can change your oil then you can install this yourself.

Very happy with the setup. Very clear to read the gauges even in direct sunlight and the door acts as a nice peak over the top. Colour match is identical to the factory instruments. It's left me hungry for one more gauge (water temp). I'm not sure if I'll actually get it or where I'd even put it at this stage.

Lookin good Jim! Love how it matches in with the factory gauges. Now you just need a head unit to match too ;) May I suggest the one I have? :P

Hehe this head unit is as old as this car (but I bought it when I had my old car). I just set the screen to auto-off after a few secs of not pressing any buttons, so it does match the rest of the dash, in a way ;)

Only issue with having the cubby door open is that it affects the ability to read the clock and info display below...

I did notice this when there was direct sunlight, but driving in the other direction I could read the clock just fine. Next time I have the issue with direct sunlight I'll close the door and see if it resolves the issue.

I already have a clock lower down on the voltage display under the head unit so it's not a problem. It's only the trip meter etc which would be difficult to see in direct sunlight, but oh well :)
