Chaps (n chicks?) I thought I should share the best wax/paint treatment I have ever come across.

This stuff allegedly seals the surface of your paint.
Sounded a bit hokey but a review from a mate giving it huge thumbs up got me interested.

Applied a coat and have got 4 months of water beading and dirt easily removed and high gloss finish off my first application.
I tried Meguires Tech Wax 2.0 but after 6 weeks I had to reapply and what got me looking for a better product.

You get what you pay for on this product, been using it every 4 months for nearly 2 years and still surprised how well it repels fluids and contaminants.

I too have been using this product for 18months now - but don't rate it quite that high. Yes its far bttter than Megs carnubas and the likes - but I'm keen to try some DoDo Juice or similar. I find it lasts maybe 6-8 weeks on my car (black finish) and far less if driving in the rain and road grime. Also need to be selective in the type of shampooo you use. Zymol strips it, so I'd recommend Chemical Guys Citrus wash - but dilute it right down

I used Dodo Juice once but found that it left smear marks after buffing off. It could be that I was doing it in the open evening air when it was quite cold probably <10degC and the car was frosting up as soon as I finished buffing each section.

Well I didn't get a chance to use it again when it was warmer because I bought Optimum Opti Seal at the same time and have been using that since with great results; it also does not require buffing off. 99% of my Dodo Juice bottle is still unused.

you are using citrus product?!?!?
even dilute it's gonna lift of your finish....one of my clients makes & markets orange cleaning products, there is only like 2% orange oil in a stove cleaner.......are you really sure it's not stripping off the polish??
With the paint sealer have you tried using WG Paint Sealer & then a coat of carnauba?
I hear it is a very wet looking finish but have been happy with the WGPS on its own so far.

I've just been washing with Megs NXT wash.
But the finish seems to last longer since I used a Megs clay bar pack on the car.

I've been using the same bottle of WGPS for over 2 years......good value I reckon.

With you Boxer.....While I prefer other shampoos for washing due to the suds and feel , Citrus wash is fine even on waxed finishes used in the correct dosage, and even better if you increase the ratio it will strip wax off and that is what I desire sometimes when you relay an underlying sealant
And while Wolfgang is agood sealant, my 2 cents worth if you want longevity is Zaino Z2 , do it properly you will get 6 months easy, garaged I reckon more like 12 months
Down side is short of 50/50 Isopropyl alchohol wipe down or a swisswax cleaner you cannot get the stuff off and that includes a massive overdose of Citrus Wash

So after the 6 months do you have to remove it before reapplying?

Well, after 6 months for me it is still there well and truly (infact last year I let it go 12 months because I did not need to do any paint correction to remove swirls and scratches) but normally by then most people that are in to detailing want to do a polish clay etc so that removes it anyway
I dont see any need to remove it before more layers but if the water is still beading nicely after washing why add more?

Hi Pete,

Long time no see - you over at DP.com.au much? I haven't been in there for ages now. Thanks for the Zaino heads-up, I'm sick of short lasting waxes and polymers (particularly the latter) - the Optiseal I was recommended is crap, even as a top coat to the WG. Its not a bad wheel coat though

With the amount of rain and road grime in Brissy recently the paint up-keep has been high

Thats why I planned to do some hard wax application and try and get some longevity. The citrus wash is also very good at enhancing shine, so if you can keep a layer of wax below then all is good

I've some time off at Easter and allocated a day to paint correction once again with the RO and buff pads Guess its overdue for a clay as well

Yes Pete I have a browse every now and then at DP
ATM I am using 3 layers Z2 pro (used with the accelerant ZFX?) and then soften the bling effect with some Swisswax Samurai to give a wetter looking finish
If I had a silver/grey metallic or especially the pearl white subaru I would just use the zaino but Black I think needs to look wet and so I use the wax over as the sacrificial layer
As a last step product on Zaino I would use Z6 (I polycharge for extra longevity but not really needed) and over a wax I use Pinnacle Crystal mist, best I have used
I dont think you really get much more than a month out of a wax on a daily driver, especially if not under cover. I dont think it is a matter of what you wash it with provided a good quality car shampoo at the correct concentration is used I think the sun simply burns it off. However a good wax applied over a good surface is pretty quick to apply wheras 3 layers of zaino is time consuming to get right

Forget the blue velvet mate, i bought a tub and i don't find it very good at all. i find it makes your paint a bit hazy and it stands out like dogs nuts on my diamond grey car. not sure if it is a defect in my pot but i also see lumps and bits in it as well. i've almost given up on this wax and have gone back to my p21s which has given me much better results, only downside is it lasts a month tops.

Agreed, which was the intent with Optiseal, but I get much better results just by washing with CG

2 coats of WG and athe occasional Pinnacle works ok

I love forums because you find out about products you have not come across before
Just grabbed a bottle of Megs Softwash gel to try.
I'll post if the WGPS finish lasts longer when I use Megs Softwash gel.
