MY10 GT Auto 380km per tank?

When you fill the tank are you putting in almost the full amount? When the gauge says empty are you putting in 50l, 55l, 60l etc? Sometimes the computer needs to learn how much is in the tank and can be conservative at first, because it may assume that your consumption for the remaining fuel will be high (say 15l/100km) when it is sub 10l/100km. After a while it learns your average rate of consumption and gets more accurate. I am interested to hear how far you get as I am thinking of getting the auto GT wagon and was anticipating 600km+ from a tank, as I drive a lot of freeways. I do 500km+ a week and hate filling up every week.

To get a true idea of fuel consumption you need to clock up a few thousand k's………. No point watching your fuel consumption with are fresh engine.

I was told that caltex's vortex is the best petrol to use. is it true? I tried BP ultimax and shell vpower but never tried caltex. I will try again when i empty this tank. car is done 9xxkm total now. i refilled yesterday around $68 dollars. will report in again when I empty the tank and see how far it go. I been driving with 2nd gear mostly around 4k rpm to run in the car. so the petrol might use little bit more than normally would. maybe?

Don't drive in second, drive it normally. Driving it in one gear / one speed is bad for running in. You need to drive it across the range of speeds and revs.

Yes, running at 4k will use petrol a lot faster!

good grief... running at 4k rpm and wondering why you're using more fuel?? Check your instantaneous fuel next time you're at 4k rpm and then compare it to 2.5k rpm and you'll see the difference: it's not a small difference

Can I just leave it in auto instead of using MT? but when I leave it in auto it always keeps itself around 2k rpm. sometimes at 60kms i notice its already using 5th gear already.

What I been doing is using MT. 1st to 5krpm 2nd to 2-5kpm then 3rd 2-5krpm. something like this. is it ok to run the car like this?

I don't dare to leave it on auto because many of you say shouldn't let the car run in at the same rpm?

also I am using S mode all the time. can't find a road to let me really use the S# yet.

BP is no good. I filled up with BP on Sat. right after I drive out I feel the car's power output lowered already. And I went on high way. normally high way will use less petrol. But I finished the tank in around 370km. I've done over 250km highway drive. this is not right for sure. I was looking for a lab that can help me to see if the petrol is bad so i can sue BP. but too bad I had to refill before I am able to find a lab that does it.

Now today I refilled with caltex vortex 98. let's see if this can last longer.
