Noise from front drive train or thereabouts

I decelerated (engine braked) from about 50-60 km/h today and I noticed a noise coming off the front drive train. It's hard to describe. I suppose you could say it was a sort of heavy, high pitched rattle. It wasn't very loud. Is that normal? The car has only done 770 km. It's a MY07 2.5i.

It could just be me, of course. I mightn't be used to having so little noise coming from under the bonnet. My last "car" was a 3 litre diesel 4WD.
