Premium fuel choice

Postby gt_dicko » Thu Aug 02, 2007 11:24 pm

Just wondering what brand of premium people prefer using and what the reasons for doing so are.

Economy? Performance? Price?

I normally Swing between V-Power and Vortex, depending on what shopper docket I've got at the time..

I do seem to get better mileage from the V-Power, but normally shop at Safeway.

Im not too picky in petrol choices.

But BP ultimate seems to be the most consistant brand in performance and economy.

Also the BP near us are always the cheapest in syd.

Shell has always been predominant in all the areas I drive around, around home and work.

Otherwise, Caltex next.

In preference;

1. Shell V-Power
2. Caltex Vortex98
3. BP Ultimate

Mobil does not touch any car I own anymore.

BP here as well.

They're the only servos easy to get at in my area.

BP Ultimate for me, used Optimax for a few years on my other car and then swapped to Optimax for better consistancy. I tried some of the other ones and get less km's per tank.
Ultimate all the way....

sounds like coveniance is the answer for most of you, on the way home works for me too.price doesnt come into it as work pays for it and only doing 12kms twice a day economy is hard to compare. the car hardly gets to warm up,average maybe 390kms to 55 litres

as you said punchman, looks like convenience wins, should have put it on the poll.

I pretty consistently get 500 Km's or there abouts around town regardless of what fuel I use.

On country trips though I get around 700-750Km's. I seem to get that little bit more when using Ultimate, but don't go out of my way to buy it.

The other thing I have noticed, is that the V-power seems to make the exhaust fumes stink much more than any of the other fuels when I start the car up in the morning and its running richer. Smell goes away once it's warmed up. must be some of the cleaning agents in it.
