Yeah, I have the same problem. It started right after a minor service so when i took it back they replaced the oil again and it still came back. Then they removed some inline oil filters and it still came back. But i find it happens intermittently sometimes it goes a couple of 1000ks before it comes back. It doesn't seem to surge like it used to in the beginning put it still pings. After a short rest and a restart it's gone but the CEL is still on. That disappears after 7 restarts without the same problem. Very frustrating but i'm still searching the net for an answer.

Not good. Finally got a call back today, and basically i was told they may be able to fix it with alot of money, but pretty much i either put up with it doing it, or sell it. Fantastic  I cant even trade it in on a GT-B yet, as iv got another 8 months on my Ps where i cant drive turbo :angry2:

Did they atleast tell you what the problem is?

Or was it more of,
'We don't really know what it is, but give us enough time (which I want to you to pay a premium for) and we should be ale to sort it out."

They THINK (think being the keyword) that its to do with oil pressure. He only said basics, but something about taking off the bottom end to even see if what they thought was correct, then if it was they would havto go further to actually fix/replace stuff and then put it all back together. There was a few different things they "suspect", which is what worries me, because they dont even have a exact idea. So they could open it all up and say "its going to cost you $5K so we'll put it back together and here is the bill for $1k for what we just did". Grrr.

Do you have any more trips planned to Melbourne?
You're welcome to drop in and try it with my ECUdatascan while you're here. :)
(Or in Adelaide over Easter ;))

If you have a laptop and want to save some $$, buy a $20 VAG-COM cable and use learning view to reset the ECU.

OR if you want to have all the other cool stuff, ECUDatascan would be a fun unit, just 20x the cost!

the VAG-COM is a OBDII to USB interface.

A quick search @ the LearningView thread on romraider shows people use windows emulators (VMware?) to run the program. Dont know much about Mac, but are you doing this at all for other programs?

It probably needs a serial port.
You can get a USB to serial adaptor for around $50.

This is the cable you would be after:
ebay link - $20odd from China

On a windows laptop, the drivers allow USB-Serial so again I dont quite know how this works on Mac....
