mod or just wait few years to get a better car?

Postby subarugt » Sat Feb 13, 2010 5:58 pm

So just after I looked around it seems to mod the my10 GT really cost a lot of money. So here is the question.

Would you spend a lot of money to mod the GT or just wait maybe 5 years to get the GTR 35 around 60k? It seems to me that later one sounds better?

Coz no matter how many mod you put on the gt when you do sell it, it really won't worth much?

I saw a GTR 34 that's done around 60k is going for around less than $50k or maybe $46 few month ago on a GTR forum.

So if I really want performance wouldn't a 2nd hand GTR more better?

I already bought the 2010 GT so I what i am thinking is just to drive the GT for 5 or 6 years then get a GTR35?

It sounds like you shouldn't have gotten the GT to begin with if you're after all-out power. The WRX/Evo would have been more ideal for what you're after. The GT isn't about all out performance. It's about decent power with decent luxury comforts at a value price. I think if you were to spend $20k (and a lot of down time) it still probably wouldn't be enough. Whereas if you started from a more powerful foundation and built up from there, you would probably be happier. So I would probably go with the latter as well.

reason why I got the gt is because it got some performance and luxury. The evo and wrx looked really bad inside. sure it's fast but I wouldn't want to drive it everyday. also I am getting too old for manual. I do miss it to be honest but I think I should start with auto now.

The GTR 35 got everything I want. But not for that price. GTR35 is only $65K in usa or $80k top you can get the best GTR model in japan. It's just not worth $160k in here.

I've tried quite few cars and It seems the GT is best buy for this year.

i would give the liberty back and buy a nice used XR6 and save your pennies for the R35 and be done with it !!!

You will only spend the next 5 long years in a stock nugget getting wipped by p platers old VN commodors

60K for a used R35 in 5 years........... WONT HAPPEN!!!

just look at the price of a nice R34 VspecII 60K+ or R34 VspecII NUR 70K+ and there almost 10 years old, that makes them almost the same price as when they where new

NOTE: it called luxury car tax and all our other hot taxes ...10% here 10% their and another 30% everywhere :angry2:

Just be glad this isn't the UK... or you could well be looking at the same figures... but only in pounds. Talk about painful.

What's a B6 RS4 worth nowadays? With a blower they've shown some astounding Hp figures.

i am never a fan of holden or ford to be honest. and they are not AWD. I am done with RWD and FWD from now on I think all my cars will have to be AWD.

I went to look at the 370z also it seems they improved alot over the 350z. But asking price 75k? bit too much for that car. it's not comfortable also.

I spent about 2 month shop around and ended up thinking the subaru gt is the best to buy for this year. did I pick the wrong car? :(

update*
the sales just told me the car is in port kembla wollongong atm. it's just around 70k to where I live but too bad it seems I still have to wait for 3 weeks.... everything takes so long in australia if this is japan if it's that close they might just give you the car in 24hrs.

+1 Phatman - You won't get a GTR for $60K.

+1 XR6 T - easy, cheap to mod, EXTREMELY fast, and can easily sell it later.

Understand the FWD / RWD / AWD comments, having owned all of them, I prefer the AWD for sure, but RWD is blardy fun!! LOL.

An B7 RS4 is still on the high side of $90+K. Awesome cars and will be for some time. As for the B6 - hmmm, I'm not a fan of it due to it's age.

I don't think that your question should be "have I bought the right car", or "wait a few years and buy a better one" as your circumstances may change dramatically at any time. You have made the decision to buy the GT. So, take delivery of it, drive it for some time and get to know it. After say 3-4 months, you'll have a much better idea on where you stand on the car. Don't like it - get rid of it and take the dollar hit. Like it, then play with it a little bit. If you're thinking about a 'better' car in a few years, then set a budget and go play. Then STICK TO YOUR GUNS and keep the car until it's time for your 'better' car to arrive in the garage.

Good luck mate. Cars are never a head decision, for us car nuts, it's always a heart decision...

+10

Even we know that car = waste of money. better off buying a house but we always ended up waste more money on cars.

I got a friend just about to pay off his apartment but guess what. he ended up took more loan to get a beetle (porsche boxter) I ask him wtf. he told me it's always been his dream to have a beetle (porsche boxter)

I have 2 word for that beetle...... "it sucks" it's not fast, not comfortable and it doesn't look good. honestly I never like the look of a beetle even if the beetle boxter and the subaru gt is the same price i would still go with subaru gt. I think the beetles are just way too over priced. even the 370z is alot better than the beetles. beetles only starting to get good after GT2 but even so it still doesn't look good.

I can't. Since I already bought the gt.

Just wondering has anyone else tried to import cars like this? Because it really look too good to be true when they cut the GTR half price? not to mention japanese model cars are always better than au model.

if you cant afford to mod a gt you cannot afford the running cost of a r35 gtr, pads and disc $11000

For me 2 doors suck ass. Look good but hey if you can go as fast as a GTR then why not. My goal was too spend less than the new GTR but go as fast or faster than one. See what happens after i Get mine back and run it in :).
