How did it go? My car has the engine out at the moment and will be back in soon with the exedy solid flywheel conversion. I think it was around 7kgs ( compared to the stock 15kgs).

Can anyone recommend a gearbox specialist in Adelaide? I wouldn't mind getting the syncros redone while it is all out.

Cheers,

I still havn't got my car back, really slack. Warranty jobs don't get high priority, im expecting it on Monday. Will let you know how everything is, im expecting the clutch to be as i bought it - stock standard. Let me know how yours drives when you get it back

Good luck with Monday, you'll have yours before I get mine. I dropped my engine in this morning and that will be between one to two weeks, looking forward to getting it back after a serious birthday. I am thinking the lighter flywheel will make it drive quite differently an be much more responsive (at least that is what I found on all my other cars). I am also thinking that rubber band feeling as the springs in the flywheel load up and unload will be gone (I actually quite liked that).

The rubberband feeling is what I dislike most about my car :) It makes the clutch pedal feel very detached.

Yea got it back last tuesday, and dealer fitted a stock replacement clutch kit with dmf. Not anymore responsive than when i first got it 5,000km ago. Just happy to get it back after 2 weeks and statutory warranty covered it which is why i didnt get the clutch kit or flywheel i wanted.

Nice work. Well it turns out it wasn't that easy to get a flywheel conversion kit. ACS in Adelaide said they had them but when I went to get one they don't have any till early march the price is amazing though - through Car Torque (Deb) in SA about $536 for clutch, Thrust bearing and new flywheel. NUTS! So cheap! Flywheels are coming from Taiwan.

Anyway I couldn't wait that long so I have ordered a Daiken/Exedy OEM spec clutch and a Fidanza 6.8kg solid flywheel conversion through All brake and clutch for $970inc. Hoping should have near to stock feel but will accellerate a bit quicker. Given good quality clutch and reasonably well known flywheel manufacturer I am happy to wear the extra dollars. I get engine back and clutch on Monday so hopefull will be going by Wednesday with a bit of after work activity.

2005 GT
2.0T
DMF to SMF conversion kit by Excedy is $1440
just for parts by western clutch services..
does anyone have any prices than that?

iv been reading through this thread and it seems i can use the JUN Flywheel to replace the clutch and use a excedy clutch kit? suited for SMF?

Hey Matt:
From here:

Okay so the two part numbers are:
KSU24503 - Generic DMF replacement clutch kit, looking at over $2000
KSU24530 - Solid flywheel replacement clutch kit, ACS quoted $1055

Hi Matt,

The clutch is good as gold. No chatter/ shudder, it does have a bit of gear rattle which is barely noticeable. It is my wife's daily driver and she has no complaints. It has done about 10k now and all sweet. Acs is Adelaide clutch service also called Australian clutch service. Google them for the ph number. No regrets here.

Thanks Breeze, from memory that's what they quoted me, i rang that many places it wasn't funny, ended up just booking it in with Ford as they were half the price of Subaru, and just need to drop it off and pick it up! Too easy! :D
