I have been to countless crashes, with the worst being where people die.
To do that sort of damage, he has had a massive hit. I mean look at the size of the tree he hit. If he didn't die he still would have had massive head injuries that left him quadraplegic for the rest of his life.
With the vehicle colliding with the door / A Pillar / Drivers roof there was little chance.
I was going to make a similar comment.
I first noticed Liberty because of the style of the car. I grew to like it more as I read forums like this one and started to notice them more on the street. When I read that they have a 5 star safety rating, I was well and truly sold. Having said that, they're still only metal cages on wheels into which we place ourselves. I think that the trap with cars like the Liberty is that they handle so well that you can do things in them that you wouldn't get away with in other cars. That probably makes us all a bit more complacent and we forget that because they allow us to stretch the limits, when they let go, they'll let go in a big way, just as this guy found out.
Having said all that, I was just thinking about crashes I've been to. I've been a paramedic for nearly 20 years. I can remember being to only two accidents involving Subarus. Both involved minor injuries only and both were Imprezas where the driver had been driving like a fool.
