does any one have an idea on what our 3L would put out? 200kw atw?

After a supercharger (if you had the full intercooler, exhaust and all) youd be looking at 190+ ATW at a guess.

Do remember a stock impreza RS only produces about 120kw at the fly standard. So close to 140kw ATW is a fair improvement! Id imagine it would have had maybe 85-95kw ATW stock? Thats just a guess. Even so thats a fairly big increase.

I think what he was saying is "how much a 3L COULD put out" not "would" put out haha.

If you subtract the flywheel figure by 50Kw on a standard engine output supplied by the manufacturer you end up with close to KW at the wheels. My car for example was dyno'd at 131kw atw. So 185kw at the flywheel minus 50kw = 135kw atw if my maths is correct :D close enough. I'll gladly take the extra 4kw :D

I think the Impreza with the Raptor supercharger making 139kw is a nice increase over the standard car. He could have just bought a WRX I suppose and saved a lot of hassle.

Apparently they went through 3 stock engines in that car before getting the engine to the quoted figure. It's by no means a stock Impreza engine now. If you read through the article it's now running an EJ257 (about $2.5k) and forged slugs, most likely 8-8.5:1 comp buy the quoted 12.5psi boost (another $800-1k) and a Haltec computer (drop your $1.5k on the counter please) so add that $5k-ish to the 7k kit figure and your looking at $13k before you even start tuning/getting it legal. Probably a lot cheaper to buy a stock WRX. If you are going to fork out that just for the small increase you'll get from the supercharger you might as well go the whole hog, sling on a decent single turbo and get some real numbers that will be a lot more tunable than the supercharger.

Would be nice to see more tuned 3.0s like De Mob Boss's but really why mess with a good thing.

so a little 2 cylinder subaru sherpa has negative 28kw at the wheels??

LOL :P

it's based on a percentage that no one seems quite sure on... depending who you talk to, 2WD cars supposedly lose between 20-25% and 4wd cars supposedly lose between 30-35%

meaning your 180kw (not 185) at the fly should be about 120-125kw atw stock... i dunno if your car was dynoed in 3rd gear or what, but if it's stock and you're getting 131kw atw, you're doing well...

edit:
PS. guys, i've seriously looked everywhere for Cams for the ez30r, and no one wants to touch them... though i've now been told by multiple people in the know that the cams in the car should be good to rev past 8500, so long as the valve springs and retainers are upgraded... so maybe that's something i should look at... Ti valve springs and retainers, retune and 8500 rev limit... sounds mighty tasty to me... :P

I know mine doesn't have any noticeable let up before it whacks the limiter at 7k. So yeah, I doubt top end breathing is a problem

My car is fitted with Hitech quad tip mufflers which are worth 5-6kw according to Lambros from Hitech. That's where I was geting 185kw from. It was dyno'd in 4th gear as it is a 6 speed manual.

well i was under the impression that the stock ez30r made between 122-126kw atw... so i guess that you putting out 131kw is spot on...

jsyk, i wasn't having a go at you before, i was just having a laugh
