Dump Pipe Question: are WRX and GT Liberty the same??

Postby GT_Tony » Tue Dec 01, 2009 8:53 pm

as above, my GT is in getting its clutch replaced and i was under the car and saw how... restrictive the stocko dump pipe is. my mecanic reckons that the GT Lib and the WRX share the same dump-pipe to an extent.

is he correct? or should i warn him otherwise?

cheers Guys

You're more than welcome to give it a try and let us know how it goes! But I guess there's a reason why none of us have fitted a WRX dump to our Libertys past or present. :D

They are the same... in the fact that they do the same thing! :P

but no I don't think they'll fit. Not without some modifications. Happy to be proven wrong though, I mean, how much modification is required.

Do it Clarence! Nevermind the various offerings for Liberty specific dump pipes! Just get a WRX one and try it out! If the turbo's the same I'm sure the flange will fit. Just the pipe bends & angles will be all different and would require cutting it at the head and customising a new pipe that leads to the centre pipe. But would you really want to replace a stock dump with another stock dump?

Do you also have the centre pipe or are you using just the dump pipe by itself?
