Wheel Painting

Searching the forums here it appears that guys are paying about $50-$100 per wheel to have them painted. I have called 3 places in Sydney so far and each of them have quoted closer to the $200 per wheel mark?!?!

Now even assuming that you guys are taking the tyres off and bringing the wheels in, surely taking my tyres off would not cost an extra $100 each?

FYI my wheels are undamaged factory TBSti 18's. I want to paint them as I have some very stubborn brakedust that has been baked on, also want them a different colour.

Any recommendations would be helpful.

If memory serves me correct the prices from other forum members are for powder coating the rims, not 2pak painting.

have had 2 set of rims powder coated at mr clean for $330 cash for 18's tbsti and $250 wrx 17's. they do have a lot of different colours to choose from

Thanks jdm. Did you have to bring the wheels to Mr Clean with tyres taken off or does he have the equipment to do so?

I dont mind paying extra for the removal as it would be a real hassle for me to organise that part of it.

Do you guys know of anywhere in Syd where they can do the whole removal of tyre - powdercoat - put tyres back on job?

Powder coating is the best value for money option in changing the colour of your rims... If you have minor damage, you'll fine powder coating will sort them out as well.

You'll need to go to a tyre place to have the tyres etc removed... Drop off at powder coating place... Then collect & back to the tyre place.

As powder coating is generally a commercial application (Used on fencing, fridges etc) they are not able to remove tyres etc.
