Privacy glass...

Postby buggermedumplings » Thu Jul 05, 2007 4:42 pm

Does anyone have any info on the privacy glass? I have heard that it is just coloured glass so does not offer some protection from UV and heat like a tint film does. I was planning on getting the fronts tinted but have now held off so any info would be great.

Cheers

yes it is just coloured glass,

you can apply a clear film to protect from uv to the privacy glass.

yep and the colour of the glass on the rears is different to the colour of glass on front doors which makes matching up a nightmare!

Also has anyone bothered putting tint on the privacy glass panels?

The privacy glass will still cut some amount of UV and heat. When i tint my car, i'm not going to bother with putting on a clear film on them. I'll just do the fronts and a visor.

I have tinted all windows (including windscreen just quietly). http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?t=819 tint has matched up relatively well considering rears are brown in colour and all other windows have green colour. Mine is dark but no problem at night.

I would have to ask the guy who did it. There were at least 3 different grades of tint used.

i matched mine up pretty good i think.

from the outside they look the same. but you can pic the difference looking from inside out... but who cares about that :)

thats an old pic... the tint isnt very tollerant to the law tho.

i have a WRX comapny car as well atm. i had to tint the windows on the front of that. and keep it legal.. can barely notice it on some angles. on others it stands out major.

i guess it comes down to what you can live with. my personal car. i would do what i havd to to get a near perfect match. if you need to keep it legal, you can come pretty close.

good luck with it.

I think it's always going to be tough to match but I'm not too phased by that.

Stuntgirl- Is the top half of your windscreen tinted?

One of my mates recently got the windows done on his Black GT Spec B.
Was done at Solartint and they applied a 15% tint to the fronts and the backs were done in a lighter shade, with higher UV protectant properties.

He wanted it dark, and at 15% it is, but the colour match is pretty close and you really need to look hard, in direct sunlight and side on, to notice a difference.
