GPS Antenna Location

Where has everyone mounted their GPS antenna? and where does subaru mount it for cars with GPS?

Thinking of moving mine to a better location, but not sure where, really want it to be out of site.

Center top of rear windscreen is absolute best position for reception (unless you wanna drill through the roof panel).

Center top of front windscreen is second preference as it's much easier to install (less cable length = less signal loss).

Side top of front windscreen is third preference since the A pillars can get in the way of the signal.

Is it important to use the metallic sticky thing?

Which metallic sticky thing? Antennas I've installed before just stick to glass and then you attach the coax cable to it.

I believe it's under the dash, just in behind the cubby.
The plastic is no problem for reception, and that gives it a pretty good view up and forwards.

Yes it is, it's between the dash and cubby from memory, closer to the dash actually. If I recall correctly there's a mounting spot for it.
