MY05 - Central Locking Solenoid & Clock / Trip Display

Not sure what forum to put this in...

Recently my right, rear door central locking isn't working properly.

It doesn't flick over instantly like the other doors, and sometimes it won't lock or unlock!

I think the solenoid might be fucked, anyone had experience with changing them over? Where would I source a replacement (also cost)?

I've had experience with with central locking (installed it into my old laser) so pretty confident in changing it over, just worried about taking the inside panel off.

My Clock / Trip Computer Display intermitantly turns off, it is completely random, I've taken the unit off and all the cables are sitting right, anyone expereinced this before?

Solenoid is easy to change over if you have installed one before, but you will have to buy genuine from Subaru unless you want to do some hacking and drilling to fit a generic one in.

As for the trip meter they are known to have dry solder connections inside the panel so you will have to open it up and repair accordingly, or replace the whole unit.

I had the exact same issue with mine. Luckily mine was still under the 3 month dealer statutory warranty. Got a new solenoid replacement free of charge

Ive replaced the left rear solenoid.
Part cost about $200 (I think) from local dealer.
Not too hard to replace the unit but you may need 3 people and your mule to remove the cover off the door handle so you can access the bolts that secure the door trim , A good friend that worked for the dealer showed me how and I thought he was going to break his fingers (i.e. It snaps on extremely tight).

Sounds like when I removed the doorsill trims for the first time I was swearing so much I just wanted to take to it with a crowbar and oxy torch!

Are there any after market solenoids, that would fit the Subaru exactly? Or Can you get them from OS at a cheaper price?

Will open up the clock and have a look, pretty good with soldereing iron.

I got some solenoids off my old car... thinking I might be able to use one of those instead

got door panel off, a lot easier then I thought it would be.

Fat chance of getting generic solenoid in there, whole locking mechanism is one unit! see why they charge $200 for a replacement, will call subaru and source a replacement
