Ecutek'd ECUks can't be re-flashed by Subaru.
Subaru use their own Select tools for re-flashing - not an OpenECU product

Had no problem with doing mine years ago...

Not saying your mechanic is wrong but why would it need to be given different parameters? It works with in a certain range and the ecu compensates. Also I've never heard of anyone else mentioning this flash upon 02 sensor replacement
