Sorry for the hijack Libs but FFS!!!! :angry2: Get over yourselves. If someone wants to buy something for their car for what ever reason then that's their choice. All this poor guy has done is ask if anyone has a bonnet and all he's gotten is a bunch of arsehole comments from judgmental wankers who think they are better than everyone. It's shit like that that make people not want to post because every arsehole with an opinion chimes in with their 2 cents which 99% of the time is useless or just plain wrong.

Like your mum said "If you don't have anything nice (read as constructive) to say then shut the F*$k up.

It seems that lately if you don't have a GT with HKS this, gReddy this, Tein that then you hacked on by everyone. If someone says "what do you think of my ... then obviously opinions preferably constructive ones are being sought but if someone is asking about buying something then they are not asking opinions.

Sorry about the rant but it's this kind of shit that has ruined other sites and this place always used to be really supportive. Not aimed at you personally Dicko but you post was the straw that broke the camels back

Fair call... but maybe it's time to step off that high horse of yours. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, I wasn't being derogatory or abusive, just making a quip.

It's my opinion (and that's what we're all putting forward on this public forum) that putting a GT bonnet on an N/A car is in the same league as fake intercoolers, massive exhaust tips on a tiny exhaust system, or a huge rear wing that'll never create any downforce at street speeds.

I'm sure if someone has a bonnet to sell, my comment won't stop them selling.

Seriously though if you're keen for a bonnet, I'd be calling around a few wreckers, you might get luck and find something that's been written off from a rear or side impact with a good bonnet.

Whilst I didn't appreciate the way you made your point, I do tend agree.

You don't have to agree with someone opinion BUT respect their right to have an opinion and express it just as you would expect others to respect yours.

As such, whilst I appreciate the desire for GT bonnet "bling", I personally would never do it to a NA car.

Was that constructive enough :?: ;)

There's a fine line between being unique and being rice. My philosophy is, if you're going to do mods that go against the majority opinion, you have to expect some flak for it. Because as much as you have the freedom and right to post your mod, people have the same rights to post their support or criticism of it. So I'm siding with Dicko on this one.

I myself have done a great many rice mods, and have copped a decent amount of criticism for it. That's ok. It's my car. I mod for my own satisfaction. I don't answer to anyone else. So to 09libs I say 'take pride in your ride'. As long as you're happy, that's what matters. There's always going to be critics no matter what you do. You can't please everyone. But you do have to realise not everyone has your same taste or opinion. So to Adrian I say unless you plan to censor everyone's opinions, you have to let them speak their mind, constructive or not.

Our Libertys are close to JDM spec, so the best aftermarket products will most likely be from Japan. If you get something made for the USDM Legacy, you risk it not fitting, or when you go knock-offs, it may break apart or break down. But there are quite a few veteran members on this forum who have seen or done most of it. Some products truly don't work well or are simply crap. The JDM brand names are tried and true. Why spend all that money acquiring your car and then buy cheap crap accessories/mods?

i think it has alot to do with "fit for purpose"

also, everyone drives their car differently and has opinions and preferences.

if there were no opinions, there would be one car manufacturer with one model. it's his car, let him do what he wants. he's not actually asking for advice and "experience on product X". he's simply trying to buy something.

And there we have it. It just gets me that what was once a supportive place is degenerating into a a place where if you are not going with the majority you get hammered with useless non-constructive comments. I don't intend to censor anyone, I like everyone else was only voicing my opinion, but then opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one. Bit like another saying, "there's a time and place for everything". "If someone says what to you think of my mod X?" then they are asking for people's opinions and yes you have to expect there will be negative ones. It wasn't the first time Libs had asked this question and gotten hammered for it. The first time, Jim (Tek) said maybe he was planning some kind of different intake path to which the reply was maybe in the future but still the crap kept coming. Now again, sorry mate I know I've sent your thread to hell but just had to say something. Is this the way new members are welcomed. Everyone is always quick to welcome new members when they introduce themselves which is great but stray from the flock and bam.

Jim I know what you're saying but those were just the first three brands I could think of. Personally, I think that there's a lot of 'parts changing' going on but not a lot of real mods. Yeah, as has been said 'tried and true' and yeas that is what works for some people but others have a different way of thinking and they are kind enough to share it with others who might be interested. I thought that was the whole idea of forums. If we keep hammering them for it then this will just become a JDM parts pissing contest.

I'll get off my soap box as I have to go fight the Japanese traffic and little old ladies on bikes in a auto pussbox. Damn I miss real driving in Aus

Mods: Perhaps all the posts aside from the original one in this thread should be deleted so that the OP can get a chance at finding what he needs?

Just PM Ric if he hasn't picked up on this already. He won't delete posts, but he will break off from the original and stick all the non-related comments in the Members Only section for entertainment value.

This forum is full of absolute ricers, but this guy didn't post the usual "look at my ride and tell me how good it is" rubbish .. he simply asked if anyone wanted to sell a bonnet.

If he posts a thread asking how good his GT bonnet looks, I'll be the first to bag the shit out of him .. until then I think there are far better targets for derision.
