New Wheels advice

Hi all,

As you know I have recently sold my beloved 20s to a forum member here. Now, I am on the lookout for new wheels (possibly given the price, etc as I'm on a budget). At the moment, I am running on stock powder coated stock 17s which looks nice but I feel its a little bit small for me hehhee coming from 20s. So I am looking at maybe purchasing new wheels, this time in 19s.

My mechanic have few of these in stock and he wants to get rid of them, he can sell it to me for real cheap which means that I have some money left over to powder coat them in black/gun metallic/charcoal colour. The wheels are 19 inch ADR Sokudo 10 Light Weight Racing Wheels designed in Japan and distributed in the USA.

I don't like the colour silver on it at the moment, so if I was to get these powdercoated, which colours should I get (my car is obsidian black), pic below (with my old 20s - which I miss already ):



Thanks guys and hope you can help me decide which colour suits the wheels for my car.

Also I might go with these tyres here if this all goes well, anyone had experience with them before (Continentals)?

A mate of mine had those tyres on a Golf and they lasted only 8,000 k's. They felt really really really grippy though.

For the wheels, if you liked the chrome thing as per your previous wheels, it would be cool to try something different and get them painted up in a black-chrome look? I dunno if that can even be done...

What? 8000kms only? Was he driving hard or did the tyre just wore out?

He is a pansy of a driver. I should have said the front wore out in 8,000 ks, the rears lasted about 15 -20k i think They fronts had to be replaced even BEFORE the first service when they rotate the tyres normally ! hehe

Those are good tyres but are probably suited for smaller cars. As for 8KK out of one pair for the front he must be pushing hard or in need of a wheel alignment .

In terms of wear and grip they are on par with Michelin Pilot Precedas (around 30,000Kms out of one set with regular rotation and mixed city/highway driving).

I believe they are OEM tyres on many of the bigger Mercs.

OEM tyres for VW Golfs too.
