ACT Exhaust Place. Recommend anyone?

Postby GTBR46 » Mon Nov 09, 2009 6:47 pm

Hey Guys, anyone recommend an exhaust shop in the ACT?
I have a 09 GTB-R, with phats cans, and dump pipe, but need a centre pipe made up.
Am normally from Melbourne, and I know nothing about the car industry in the ACT.

Thanks in advance.

Powatone in Fyshwick have a very good reputation but you could could also try Axis Steering and Suspension in Tuggeranong

Kambah Automotive and Exhaust could be another southside (Tuggeranong) option. I've used them a few times on previous turbo'd Subies for exhaust mods and they are very nice people to deal with. Been in business a long time too which is always a good sign.

Fyshwick Exhaust made my centre pipe to go with the phat dump and mufflers. Nice job.

Tune: Ultimate tunes at Phillip (also Cusco dealer)

Suspension and alignment: Capital Steering at Fyshwick

Subaru service: both dealers are good. Used both and both have treated me and the car well.

Wheel repairs: Wicked Wheels Queanbeyan

Sound: Super Audio installations Phillip (do car insulation)

I know Powatone, they did an RX7 from me years (yes, a lot of years) ago.

Is this the place? http://www.yellowpages.com.au/act/fyshw ... sting.html

Mind me asking what you had done and what it cost?

Yes that's Fyshwick Exhaust. They do a lot of work on race, custom, muscle and enhanced European and Japanese cars. I went and spoke to a few people about exhausts and was regularly pointed to Fyshwick Exhaust. They were the only exhaust shop to point out to me that stainless steel exhausts expand in length by up to 2.5 cm when they are hot so have to make allowance for this.

Another option is DTS at 1/30 Lyell St Fyshwick. They build in house custom exhausts for their customers but these are predominantly muscle car mods.

I went and spoke to all three.
All three came back with pretty much the same suggestions in terms of work (its a simple job afterall)
I elected to go for Powatone, based on price, and availability to do the job when i wanted it done.
They also listened to me when I spoke about things like noise, and are going to mock up two systems for me to listen to before deciding (2.75 v 3.00 inch)
In addition, they are going to flange the stock centre pipe for me so that its easier to store and reinstall if/when I sell it.
Job gets done tomorrow!....THEN PULSE RACING TUNE IN SYDNEY ON FRIDAY.
