Simple answer - NO
Clutch does not add power. You should have 100% power transfer even with a stock clutch. A HD clutch will only allow better "bite" for take off/gear change and should last longer before slipping occurs due to higher pressure plate.

I know the clutch do not add on power, but as I know, a better clutch which will transmit an increase in engine torque / power atw? correct me if its wrong

As Smythie said before, the only reason you would get an increase at the wheels is if the stock clutch was failing. All clutches whether organic, ceramic, button, low pressure plate or HD will all transmit 100% power when doing their job. As the clutch wears, if slippage is occuring, then you dont get 100% transfer THEN and only then will the ATW "increase". But you aren't really seeing a gain, you're just correcting an error.

So if your stock clutch was worn and slipping when you did the dyno run, you MAY see an increase, but I would highly doubt it. Chances are the difference you would see would be due to different atmospheric conditions

You're wrong.
If a clutch is working correctly (i.e. not slipping), then it is transmitting ALL of the available torque/power.

cool, thx for all the explaination!! I am more clear abt this!! btw, my old clutch was pretty sucks.....when the mechanic shown me, all gone!!!! and lucky I can change it on time, otherwise need to replace the flywheel........

A couple of years ago I drove down to Melbourne and had my MY05 v-tuned and gained about 12kw atw (max power) and was very happy with the driveability improvement. I was unsure about the effect on fuel economy because with the improved responsiveness I started driving more aggressively :-\

I now have a MY09... my question is, has anyone had the v-tune done on a Manual with SI Drive? and if so, did Vin just tune the Sports # mode?

I remember the v-tune on my MY05 being much smoother and less aggressive than the Sports # mode in the MY09 and I'm wondering if there will be much benefit to having the Sports # mode tuned to Vin specifications... perhaps i should call Vin

I have an MY09 6MT and mine is getting v-tuned in November. I asked vin about SI-drive and he said the tune would affect all SI modes but mostly S#.

In standard spec the difference between S and S# is only throttle responsiveness though, so I dont understand what he meant on reflection.

throttle map is probably changed as fly-by-wire yes???
turn the SI drive knob and it changes some maps on ecu?

as FBY is electronic you can have actual 60% throttle with 100% @ pedal at given load points.
or set it to what ever you like. same shiz they use on the F1's when its wet.

If you look at the graph, the stock power was already pretty good, how can there be sucha difference? That's like 10kw!

Different cars, on different days. No two cars will read the same. The same car on different days will not read the same. Put the two together and you can see some large variation

Had my 3.0 6mt on the dyno on Friday. Made 131kw. It was pulling timing and IAM was dropping. Only mods are Hitech Quads. I would post the dyno sheet but for some reason I can't copy and paste the link from my Photobucket account.

Purpose of the dyno run was to get a pre tune figure so I can do a before and after to see what gains I have made if any.

Case in point - when I went along to the dyno day parso_rex held a while ago mine only produced 118kw at peak. Similar car, same dyno, different days. Add in different dyno's and you have another (large) variable for power numbers. Don't worry so much about the individual numbers, have a look at the percentage increase and the shape change of the curves in the dyno charts

Hey guys,

I just rang STI Docklands and they told me theyre not doing any sort of tunes including the vtune while waiting on the legal issues to sort themselves out. i know this was an issue a couple of months ago, but is this just a case of different staff not knowing what the go is? my understanding from some of the posts here is that they were tuning again... maybe not?

Others have had the same issue lately - you need to say " I have a 3.0 six that I want tuned". The issues are with tuning turbo cars, tuning the 3.0 is fine and they will still do it. Just make sure you state up front you want your 3.0 tuned

Hmm just rang back and stipulated that I have a 3.0RB (NA) and they gave me the same response... intereting... asked me to keep ringing back every few weeks

Im guessing you didnt talk to Vin? You need to call and ask for Vin...they'll ask what you want and just tell them you wanted to discuss performance options or something like that. Then when your actually talking to Vin tell him you want your 3.0 tuned at that you know alot of people that have had it done recently. The people at the call centre are nuffys IMO!

yeah i'm getting the same impression... plus i wouldnt be surprised if Vin is tuning on the side without the full knowledge of the company. The company line is probably that theyre not doing anything while awaiting legal procedure but its possible that Vin would be slipping them in there where he can...

i'll call back and speak to Vin during the week

Why waste your time with this when you can get real gains from a trusted and well tested tune - aka - ecutek. no legal issues there.

Yeah and how much did that cost you thezone? Quite a bit more than $270 id imagine.

And plus, its not really all that much about how many more KW you get out of it. Its about the drivability. You could get a tune that give you X amount of Kw...but it doesnt mean that its going to drive well! My 2c anyways.
