Does that equate to about 14.7L per 100ks??

Yeh about that. Factory tune with dump and mufflers was better at about 12-13L/100kms around town.

avcs issues still may be the tune, not all tuners think like yourself and coyote.A few tuners think its the tuning of the avcs! whos right then?

We are seeing the AVCS issues on stock standard tunes. It's not all cars, either tuned or standard, so I think we can rule out the tune as being the problem. Maybe you should try logging some car yourself and see what you find? Please feel free to post your logs here.

Isn't the whole idea of tuning cars with stock parts going to possibly cause "premature failure"?

Mine has about the same as Bruces (84,000km), and my AVCS issues are less severe than his and BBB's I believe. I'm not worried about it and probably won't do anything about it until I get my timing belt done which will be ages.

Its not a particularly severe issue anyway.
Just a pita for those who like their car to be 100% sorted.

My car's done 160k and my avcs should be pretty spot on. Need to graph the logs to be 100% sure, otherwise the gears are in sync within 1 degree from memory

Well... it is only limited to the 07/08 cars and only affects the manuals, which makes you wonder could it be something else? ;)

Constant SINE wave signal in the logs showed up my suspicion, was too regular for it to be oil control as engine oil pressure is a variable at different rpm. BBB got me logs and I saw the sine wave pulse, logged EVERYTHING on a stock 07 and saw the cause. Simple fix, which should cost under $8 will be posted shortly ;)

Wear and tear/oil are obviously major contributing factors.
But the real breakthrough could be getting the cause of the oscillation worked out.

Thanks for the patience mate, it can only benefit the community as a whole if a fix can be identified!

Have one owner testing a solution... electrical engineer with 4 diodes 8)

Now it's making sense :) hopefully this helps, I'm guessing if the gears are worn out already though....then tuff titties?

Just checked with a reputable source and once cam gear failure is diagnosed replacement should occur soon as low load, low RPM knock will be induced as well as MAF scaling errors and corrections.

Waiting 16,000 or so kms could see a much more serious repair.

I'll be booking mine in for replacement within the fortnight, currently Ross's lead time.
