amp wanted

Postby hurls » Wed May 25, 2011 5:35 pm

Hi there,
I have just purchased a 2004 3.0RB pretty cheaply. all good but no amp. I'm happy enough with the Mc (i think - haven't heard it)
So i'm after an amp - genuine as i presume the connections are different on after market ones - unless theres an easy way. So if anyone can help - greatly appreciated.
thanks
Peter

Personally, I'd take this oportunity to upgrade. Clarence installed an Alpine PDX5 in his Liberty GT. Talk to him about it (although he did use an aftermarket headunit also)
[New: MY11 FPV F6 | Winter White | Pioneer DEX-P99RS | Alpine PDX-F6 | Alpine PDX-M12 | JL Audio 12W7-AE ]
[Old: MY07 2.0R | Urban Grey | 5 MT | 6000k HID | LED | Alpine IVA-W502E | Alpine PDX1.1000 | Alpine PDX4.150 | JL Audio 12W7v3 | Focal KRX2 ]

+1 for upgrade.
Car(s): Steel Silver MY10 GT Wagon + 1985 Subaru Sherpa

Mods: (GT) HKS Panel Filter. The HKS I put in the MY10 is the same filter I took out of my MY05 GT. So yes, they do fit. Custom leather heel pad to minimise carpet wear in the drivers footwell. Slotted front rotors. (Sherpa) 14'' 6 Spoke mags, Chrome Gear Shift (sick!), Alloy Pedals (sicker!), new positive and negative battery terminals, Alpine cda-9827 H/U, JBL GT 6x9's boxed and mounted (sickest!), Kicker DS650.2 component speakers mounted in the footwells in flibreglass pods, Alpine MRP-F200 4 channel amp (4x40wRMS), Rebadged with hektik chrome eBay badges, STi stickers for more powaaaa, "leather" handbrake boot, recarpetted with grey/black car carpet from Bunnings, sick Clarke Rubber boot mat, polished and waxed.

If you don't go aftermarket (and I agree with the others, the better long term option), try sunspares on the sunshine coast. They had a few mcs lying around when I was there last snooping around for parts and could probably help you out.

contacted sunspares.... $800 for amp!

Missed out on the alpine PDX5 - went for $200

Next Question.... difficulty in wiring up after market amp. What is the din plug for - input?? the white connector for speakers?? I have the wiring diagram via another post.
Thanks for your help and advice.

Yeah, the DIN cable is the input from the head unit. If yo uhave the schematic for it, then it shouldn't be too difficult to solder on some RCA's for line level inputs to the new amp or you could just use hack the cable and extend the speaker inputs on the DIN cable to their respective High Level Inputs on the new amp. As long as the new amp has High Level Inputs of course which most do nowadays.

Ouch... steep... just the amp or the mc and the amp? I got some other parts from them recently for a decent price so hence the recommendation, but yeah, for $800 you'd have a new single din head unit and the fascia kit covered.
