I can only see one power point, and lighting is similar to a reasonably well lit section of Shopping centre parking - in other words, we are probably going to need more. Daisy chaining a shit load of lights around the area won't really be too much of an option, but I am no expert in this field. I'll get some photos so you can see for yourselves.

cpitts wrote:EDIT: It's also worth noting that if Benny comes through, his car will be the free build car that I'll teach from and predominantly do. ;-)

Does this mean I don't pay for sound deadening either ? :P  :P

1 Powerpoint isn't as bad as it sounds. The actual activity doesn't require power if you're using Dynamat Extreme as it's soft and tacky enough that it doesn't need heat at all.

Lighting doesn't need to be super bright, just enough to see what you're doing, and honestly, most of the internal door cavity stuff is by feel anyway.

Looks like it's time to arrange that deadener group buy now. Who's got auto store contacts? Tangcla???

I can get a Dynamat Extreme bulk pack for ~$225 + delivery, so if we can get that locally (or less) and some dynaxorbs as well, then we'll be set! I'll put together a shopping list for the people that are to attend and at the top of this thread, make a list of attendees and cars.

Thanks again bennygsr for the venue.......... and no, the deadener isn't free, when you see the labour, you'll realise that the deadener is the least of the costs! ;)

I haven't got much contacts any more. The bulk place you linked to was still cheaper than what I got last time.

Thanks Benny and Craig,

I'm in!

Craig, do you think if if brought a buddy with me, i'd be able to nail all four doors,
and use up the scraps in the boot well all in 1 day? i.e. 2 men on the job.

If it means a long day, can we kick off early in the A.M. so that those of us wanting
to try and do the lot, can? What are your thoughts?
Cheers
Al

The more people you can con into coming, the better.

EDIT: If you start on the back doors first (the easiest) and then work forward, you'll have more chance of getting 1 layer on per door in 1 day. It's the inside layer on the front doors that takes time and precision. All 4 doors on outer metal should be an easy get in a day which is a huge step forward. The inside layer on the fronts just takes it to the next level and fixes all the stereo frequency imbalance. Outer skins will give you heaps more bass and volume (and a quieter car).

I'm also looking at an early start time. It's a looooooooong day.

In the bulk packs, there will be enough to deaden the fronts, rears and give you some left over for the boot/wag space (around the wheel arches or tailgate (if you've done exhaust) would be my recomendation). Haven't pulled the back out of a wagon, so that'll be for you and Steve to play with. ;-)

We should, but we need time to be able to do the group buy of deadener as well. :-) Maybe mid Oct? I can't do >22nd -> 31st as it's b'day season. Maybe 17/18 Oct??? That's about 6 weeks out. Either that or early Nov, weather will be spot on then! Great T-shirt and jeans weather. Trust me, you don't want a jumper on doing this stuff.

Sure, count me in. I can't do the weekend of the 3rd or the 10th of October, but 16/17th sounds good for now.

Now this is underway, I've moved it to the "Gatherings" forum.
I'll probably come, but not sure if I'll be an observer or a participant yet. ;)

I'll probably come down for a stickybeak on the day. As for deadening my car I prefer to work from the comfort of my own driveway and not feel rushed that I have to leave by the time the warehouse closes up :)

No stress teK--.

You could always come down and do just one door of your car as a dry run (if you do a back door, there's probably an hours work there) then you can do the others at your leisure. In reality, you could easily knock off both back doors and have them back together inside 2 hours. Fronts are where the time's lost. I'll put you down as attending with no car at this stage, unless you change your mind.
