Does anyone know a source for the AIP-CL-ID in Australia? Its sounds like exactly what I need for my MY05 LGT.. I dont need to control the ipod from the stereo, or charge it, just be able to play it.

I just cant seem to find a source at the moment..

Neil, is there any chance of the guys you used in NZ having them in stock?

cheers

Hi Guys,
First just want to let you know that this site is the best!! It guided me to this :CLARION EA1251 13P iPOD MP3 3.5MM RCA AUX INPUT MODULE
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... EWNX%3AITe

All up it cost me just under $70 au shipped from the US. for my MY06 3.0R-B i was craving the use of my IPhone in the car. I meeust say this is the Bomb!!
After hooking it into the back of my McIntosh I pressed the CD button twice and 'hey presto!!' it worked
Unlike the the method of using the clarion' black box' this one doesn't require you to name your playlists clarion1 2 etc..
I could play anything I wanted from Armin Van Buuren to Third Eye Blind(god I'm old) lol
It does not however charge the iphone but not to worry, I use the docking station from Belkin(BELKIN Tunebase FM Transmitter with Handsfree) for the duty and then plug a 3.5mm jack cord from the the 13p unit to the AUX in on the belkin and then the 3.5mm jack out into the Iphone. Volume is just a tad lower than cd/fm and when dialing / talking the vol ume is very audible.
Hope this is some use to some frustrated McIntosh users
Thanks for listening
David

Hey, this is way cool. What year is your Liberty? Also was it easy to remove the McIntosh and where did you run the cable? Is it really a DIY?

Its an my06, build oct05 for jan 06 shipping to Aus.
To the get Mac out you first remove the gearshift boot surround with is ensembled with the ashtray unit(the boot is stappled to the underside of the surround.)
To pull up, you get your fingers and lever the surround up where 4th gear would sit (I put the gearstick in neutral in N ). IT should pop up from where the center console meets the gearstick surround.
After you manange to lift the surround up a bit, unplug the ciggie lighter plug and then lift the surround up/around/ and off the gearstick. You start by unscrewing the silver peices under where the g/s boot was on either side.
then start along with the base of the silver sides ,gently pulling up a little and to the side to 'pop' it out the from under from where it sits/joins the centre console.
After its popped out, gently pull the sides towards you(there are 3 clips which should unliclip. 1 at the bottom, 2 where the side strip curves up, and 3 at the top.
The Same goes for the other side.
then you should be presented with the stereo and a long both sides the are 5ish? screws on either side .
the climate control and stereo both 'come out' togeather as a whole unit.
you dont need to remove the bottom screw on each side, but the next 3 im pretty sure.
After 6 screws are removed, the stereo can now be pulled forward slightly. As you are sliding the stereo forward. on the top left, unplug the "hazard" wire, its a white plug(the "pushclip" of the plug is on the bottom side. then pull some more and it should pop right out(if it feels a bit tight, have a look in and you should notice that there is some black tape holding the Aerial. cut it and it should free up some more 'wire' to pull.
then flip the stereo over so you can see the back and the 13pin slots/clips in.
I fed the aux cable down and behind the climate control so it will sit next to the ECU. I then hooked up a double ended male 3.5mm jack cable and 'threaded' up and out through the ashtray(there is room).
Then when the cable is not in use, you can sit the plug in the ashteray and close it :)
Hope this helps
Dave

Mine is an 04. I've just taken the punt and ordered the same unit from eBay. Hopefully it works. Many many thanks for the instructions. I've been waiting years for a device like this! All we had for ages is the stupid retarded thing that works from playlists.

I was worried about that too. With the unit from ebay it comes with 1x 3.5mm to rca, 1x CCUIPOD1 .
on the unit itself it has 3.5mmjack out and CCUIPOD1 connector 'socket'
so playing the ipod through the headphone out jack it possible... and for me the best option :D

The picture shows 3 connectors:

a 3.5mm stereo plug
2x RCA plugs
an iPod connector

Is this how yours came? Sounds like you are using the 3.5mm stereo plug and this too is all I want. What happens if you connect the iPod via the iPod connector?

Yep, that's what mine came with 1x double ended male 3.5mm cable 1x 3.5mm Stereo Jack cable to 2 RCA left/right :)
You are right about me using the iPod connector through the 3.5mm out. All that happens if I use the iPod connector is when I 1st connect my iPhone, it displays a MSG saying it cannot charge though the connection and do I want to turn aeroplane mode on to 'minimise' inerference .
I selected no because 1 I didn't have any interference and 2 I wantthe option to use my iPhone "handfree". The only difference I can tell is the volume is about 3 -4clicks lower than through the headphones :)
PS what it looks like is that the iPod connector acts like the blank cd trick all rolled into the one unit and that on the mac it displays CHG for cd changer and cd 1 and track 1 counts up. Also rpt is displayed. I haven't had enought time to see how long 'track1' plays for but am not fussed at all cause I get to use my mac AND headphone Jack from my iPhone !!! FTW :D ps my 6 stacker is full and if I want I press cd and go back to the internal stacker and can us the cd s in it:) hope this is a bit clearer lol

Installed my cable today :) piss easy really.. all the parts on the front came off easily and logically..

as long as you take it slow and are patient with pulling the pieces off you really shouldnt have a problem.. top sound quality and im really happy with it. (may move the wire though.. i think abit of creativity is in order.

So, how is it that you actaully "access" this aux cable? What button do you press? A bit confused haha. So do you think if i bought the designated ipod cable (instead of the headphone jack cable) it would work with my iphone..including charging function? I have a cradle/FM trans that i use my iphone in..when i plug it in it comes up with the same message about airoplane mode etc, but if i press no or just leave it it actaully still charges my iphone and transmits. Do you think this would happen with this cable aswell?

iPod Cable only works for the older iphones, ie 3G, not the 3GS.

woodduck - you access the auxilary cable in by pressing the CD button twice (if say you were on Radio). Pressing CD again will just change back to the stacker.

No idea about the charging thing... (the cables are only $40 just get one and be a pioneer  ) Otherwise you could just get a car charger plug the 3.5mm jack up top and car charger in the bottom whilst the ipod's in some sort of cradle

That is of course assuming your not happy with the sound quality of the fm transmittor.. if you're fine with that then it's probably not worth doing.
