Si Drive- What do you think?

Thought it was more of a PR exercise than anything and even when I test drove the car it went straight into S# but after living with it, it's actually quite good.

For my daily peak hour driving, I-mode works fine, gear changes are early so no over-revving or jerkiness. When I need to merge lanes etc, switch to S# and works well. S-mode pretty much same as I-Mode but gives you a bit more top end. S#-I think is a little harsh for peak hour driving.

I obviously have the auto which I think it's more suited to, how do people find it with the manual?

i think its awesome...

i too thought i t was a bit gimmicky... but if you use it the right way its a very valuable little tool

I have SI with a manual. For me I use S 99% of the time, and S# 1% of the time when I have a rush of blood or when I am driving in the country and there is overtaking involved where I want the power to come on quick. For me I-Mode has no place with a manual transmission as you have contol over changes and revs already. It feels bloody awful when you put it on.

For me it would be a waste of time as I would have it on the highest setting 100% of the time.

Does anyone know if you can set it to S# permanently, it seems to default back to S all the time?

I've had an Ecutek reflash and this has improved all settings, especially S#.

At the present in S# full accelerator = 100% WOT whereas in standard trim 65% accelerator = 100% WOT. With current power levels the acceleator would have been a bit like an on/off switch if still using the standard compressed accelerator to throttle ratio.

We're going to change this next week to 80% accelerator = WOT to sharpen it a bit and make the S mode more meaningful. That is if S# is too responsive for traffic I'd use S more.

'I' is ok for going downhill

Believe it reverts back to previously selected mode when ignition is switched off.

Yes you can't select S# whilst engine is cold ie the blue light is on in temp guage. Were you not told this at delivery?

Yeah I was, I just realised why it reverts to s mode when you reminded me about the engine being cold....thx

Im with RAS. 90% S mode and 10% S#.

But at the moment it wont allow me to use S# so im in S mode 100%. LOL! My car is definately faster than a lib with S# mode though. haha

I find the whole SI drive useless - i have it on S# almost all the time. I've had on "I" a few time during heavy traffic but at low revs i really don't see how I is different from S# - it might save a bit of fuel but other than that it doesn't make a difference to me.

For me and for my reasons on why i bought a GT - the SI drive has no place in the car. And the headlight washer things too - makes no difference to me.

Btw - mines a manual. Its wiered dropin' to 5th

S+ 99% of time, S while warming up. Once I get her flashed then I might use S mode too.

I agree the I mode is a waste of time. See no benefit at all. In manual u need to keep an eye on the green shift light, whilst trying to also keep an eye on the road. Then when u change on the indicator ur car jerks as the revs are too low. Waste of time imo. But I do enjoy it as a gadget for the car.

Washes I prefer we didnt have it but unfortunately the stupid law says xenons need them. I do however think it looks better on the headlight unit itself, rather than the front bar as all other cars do.

Right, i didn't know it was cos of some law... but yeah, better built into the light itself than on the bumper.

But why did it have to be chrome...wonder if i can paint mine black...
