Where to Re-tune ECUtek in Syd

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Is that made up of $1,000 for the Haltech and $600 for the tune?

Cheers

Maybe. I saw in a magazine that the Haltech Interceptor was only around $900. So about the $700 for the tune and 2 dyno runs. And for a lucky few, crappy service thrown in for free.

$2k for the customised ecutek tune does sound like a lot. Would part of the reason for the high cost be that MRT (and anyone else who uses ecutek) has to pay a license fee for its use? Just wondering, if that was the case, then would everyone who uses ecutek be around the same mark $$$ wise? It would beg the question then, something I've never fully understood, why use ecutek at all if it incurs such a high cost?

Any chance you could elaborate on that? Like what car you had tuned, what you had done, and your pre and post sales experience? Always good to get every perspective. :D
Hi There,One of my mates had a MY01 B4 and took it to a ECUTEK dealer for a tune, however i put his car on the dyno at work to do a before and after, before the tune it made 129kw atw, after the tune i checked it and it was up to 132kw atw.He helped me out with the mates B4 on our dyno and he ended up with 166kw atw.The car has been going strong for at least 10 months now and i have sent him 2 other B4`s and both owners are happy. All cars are stock except for tune.Cheers Eddie

You pay local tuner, tuner pays MRT a cut, MRT pays EcuTeK a fee (not sure of its a one of license fee or based on how many cars they tune).. As far as I know everyone sells it for the same $2,000 mark..

EcuTeK sells MRT the rights to use their software.. MRT does the research & development sells the base map.. Local tuner sells his fine tuning expertise and dyno time..

Why are CD’s still dearer than cassette tapes when they are so much cheaper to produce??.. Such is life..

For me EcuTeK is just easier, no rewiring to worry about.. You keep the complete functionality of your factory computer.. They have a pretty good reputation.. Different people have had good results from different systems.. I think the most important thing is to find a decent tuner.. The tuner will either make or brake your car, regardless of what software or hardware is used..
