Brake Pads

The Dixcel Type M Pads are the ones I use with my brembos, no brake dust after a month, and they are very good at stopping my car

New member here (and noob to cars) .. was doing some googling on recommended tyres and brakes for my stock (shock horror!) Liberty 07 2.0r and found this forum

Have to say your rides look amazing!

Unfortunately am quite snowed under with work so won't be upgrading wheels/brakes as such this time around and looking to go for the value buy rather than overkill

Will need rear brake pads soon (30%)
After reading this thread was set on EBC Greenstuff - even found a good price

Spoke to mechanic but he was of the opinion that i should stick with girling or bendix as "greenstuff is more for racing/track and the braking won't be smooth, stopping power will be sub par until the brakes warm up and in general the performance stuff is harder on the rotors"

I trust my mechanic but wanted your expert opinions as Liberty specialists
he said 85 to fit the brakes (if i supply) and 35 per corner if the rotors need "machining" - reasonable?
If the rotors are gone obviously i'd prob have to buy new ones from him

The stock pads on the rear will be fine for anything short of racing IMO. Might be more expensive than other options though ...

Also, you mention they're at 30%. How many km's has the car done since the last rear pad change?

So Im finally trying to order my front and rear green stuffs. Its an ebay sale from the USA. They havnt got a clue if their legacy GT pads are are exactly the same as our liberty ones? Im 99% sure they are, im just hoping someone can confirm before i put the order thru. Dont suppose youve got a product ID Ivan or Tai?

Greenstuffs have been fitted and running for about three weeks now and they are awesome!
Massive difference compared to the stock ones i had on before.
The only bad thing is they make a LOT more brake dust. I guess that's the trade off with performance brakes... Saying that, they might not be properly bed in yet and might still be wearing through the outer coating on the pad?

Well the Type M pads I have are performance pads too, there is literally close to zero brake dust. I haven't washed my car in over 2 months and wheels are still clean

interesting thread guys. When mine wear out I'll probably try the Ferodo's. Would like a bit more bite than what it currently has.

Where do you guys go for your stuff at fair prices?

He's thinking about YellowStuff and RedStuff, both which are designed for track use to provide better braking performance and less fade in extreme uses such as the track, but both perform less effectively when cold. They are also typically noisier.

GreenStuff was designed for street. It's designed to bite well when cold to warm. It will also work well hot, but I would expect it to start fading when the brakes are hot for extended period such as driving spiritedly down a mountain road as opposed to a one-off hard brake from 100kph and then a period of cool down from casual driving down a highway.

Avoid Bendix like the plague. They work, but they are the Dust Kings.

for our cars with 316mm rotors you need the DB1722 for the fronts

I just picked up a Set of TRW pads for the front of mine for $80.
I've used them on the street and track and never had an issue.

They're cheap, reliable and available at ABS everywhere on the continent
