ohh sorry to hear Nikolai. Yeah Im not sure when I'll get mine done. Im under the pump and the moment and really cant afford to go without a car for too long. Not sure if I'll get it done under insurance or fork out and get what I want done all at the same time.
Cheers

I went through Eblen Crash (brighton road) and it was $350 (I think) for rear bar removal, fix up and re-spray. So unless your excess is next to nothing, better off paying to have it done Shav - regardless if you're having anything else done.

Can recommend Eblen for sure, top work on fixing mine ;)

Was an interesting experience because I was in the car when it happened. So I took that photo to show the guy what he had done. Matched up the black paint on my car to the damage on his car. He lost his rag BIG time, started denying that he hit my car and started to try and push me around. (I'm not really small) He threw my phone on the floor when I tried to show him the picture, called me a fkn liar.... Anyway. Long story short. I picked up the now cracked phone and started to dial the cops. He calmed down very quickly when he realised that he would be arrested for assault. He paid for the phone and most of that damage buffed out.

Lee - cheers mate I might consider them if they have a free loan car I can use while the car is being resprayed. That is my main issue. Eblens should be able to match the paint too hopefully.

Nikolai - Sounds like that guy was a right tosser. Glad you got it sorted. He is a clown to attack you like that. Admitting fault and swapping details would be far more wiser.

Damien - It doesnt make me feel better knowing that these scum keep getting away with it. The morals of this world are just ridiculous. I could never do something like that a be able to sleep at night. :|

Just be glad that you live in Australia where people may ding your car and drive off. If you lived somewhere like South Africa, you would probably get back to your parking space and find a different car there because yours would be stolen.

55000 cars stolen in 2015 so far. But down a fair bit on the 91000 cars stolen in 2003

Christmas shopping idiots is what I call them. No patience, no care, just plain utter imbeciles going for their yearly shopping habit.

Going to get all the bits I wanted resprayed in the new year. Need to get the time to speak to a painter who can lend me a car while this is happening though.
Cheers

Well just got the car back from mechanics and had the following done:
- Full major service
- timing belt KIT (includes NEW tensioners, idlers, pulleys, water pump, gaskets etc. not just the belt alone) with GENUINE Subaru kit.
- full coolant flush
- front and rear diff oils replaced
- Brake fluid flush
- Transmission service
- complete inspection of the entire car for leaks and loose connections
- Hand brake adjustment and brake pad inspection
- Tyre rotation
- Safety check of all lights

Cost so far - $1447

Still needs the plugs and LHS rocker cover gasket replaced due to it weeping, which is booked in for 2 weeks to be done. Due to time it couldn't be completed today hence the re-booking.

Verdict - Car runs smoother than ever and no other faults or issues reported. :D Mechanic reported at how he has never driven a smoother LGT auto than mine. Couldnt get over how smooth the gear shifts were which is a testament to Matt's (Kido) tuning skill. I agree with him. The car is silky to drive.

You're probably thinking I have spent a crap load on a major service and I agree, however I dont like to take risks or chances and while the engine was apart I thought it was wise to just get what I could replaced. Yes it's overkill, but Im keeping the car so I think it was the best choice for me. Now that that's done I can search for a panel beater for the next phase of the rejuvenation.

I don't think that is too bad considering you did the major full cambelt replacement too.

I guess in Hind Sight it isnt too bad Nikolai. I looked at the receipt and there was at least 1K in parts, fluids and waste disposal fees. The rest in labor.

Good choice on gettin the lower rear bumper section painted black. Always wanted to do that, or at least plastidip it. Are you going for a matt black or gloss/metallic?

Probably go Matt Black seeing the front lip will be matt black. The painter reckons it wont show up dirt as much too as gloss will. To add to that list Im also debadging the boot to give it that clean look.
