3" Turbo Back Exhaust

Postby suff » Thu Jun 18, 2009 11:20 pm

Finally got around to having the exahust done on the sedan, managed to get back to the shop before the car was back on the road, so snapped a few crap quality pictures :)

Over all, the exhaust has made some very positive changes, flattened out the torque a lot, previously acceleration was very "surgey" this is mostly elimenated now, sound at idle is good, (already had canons on the car) cruising at 80 and 100kph also very quiet, under full throttle it's loud, but not obnoxiously so.. will be interested to hear the system in 500km or so when its carboned up.

Car goes back onto the dyno to be further adjusted.. will post graphs when complete

Yet again, I cant speak highly enough of Kevin at Mettams in Belmont, this is the 4th car he has done work on for me, and every time its spot on, and for a very good price.

For the tech guys, I've opted for a belmouth over split dump, 3" all the way back with 3" Y all mild steel. Mufflers are existing (berkley's) in stainless, 3" straight through with 4" tips

Looks great Chris! Err, did you paint the mild steel pipes a shiny gunmetal? I looked at it at first and thought stainless, but when you said mild it must have been the paint. Did they have a one piece going all the way back to the mufflers or is there a break between the centre and the Y-pipe? And do I see a mini-muffler and a hotdog?

Nice one Chris, looking forward to the Dyno sheets too.

Did you paint the mid pipe black on purpose??? Only reason I ask is that eventually, if and when you start to go over humps and that and the pipes scrape.... it's gonna stand out heaps! Different though :)

Cannons hey? didn't want the quad pipe look?

The painted pipes are a typical Mettams thing, and I doubt that too many of us are going to have a lot of issues with scraping the exhaust, as it doesnt hang down that low!?

Looks good Chris! :D

Yup, Mini Muffler + Hot Dog.. Jimmy your spot on, Mettams always paint their mild steel work in black.. (only comment I have on that is the work experience kid painted the DP too.. suffice to say that paint didn't stay on long!)

ECU is clearly getting used to the beter airflow, nice cold morning here in Perth, great fun going up St Georges Tce.

I love the look of the Qaud's, but TBH I wanted something different, hence the oval canons!

Bring on Monday!

TBE has been the best money spent so far on the car.. so very impressed with the way it has smoothed out the acceleration, I was so frustrated with it previously!

We will need to org a Liberty night down at the Motorplex for a Whoop Arse Wednesday 1/4 mile in the spring. I reckon we could get at least 6 GT's with zorst and tune for head to head passes.
