+1 Daz. Make sure you don't come to a complete stop though. As Craig has noted ~ 10kph...

That depends entirely on which train of thought you follow for bedding in pads and rotors. :P

Passengers didn't miss out on the testing either. most of us were stuck for around 2hrs as they tested car by car, some longer as any major defect given they grounded the car (tow away job) and the defect list on most cars were pretty tame POD+FMIC, rims to wide, to low etc... any excuse to get the thing towed home, cops were loving it. 1 drive day i'll never 4get any time soon....

What cars / club were they??

Regardless of the Police presence, I will still be going along for the drive and looking forward to the coffee and lunch stops.

Also, a great idea for donations (as suggested in an earlier reply). Maybe a bit late to do for this cruise, but could certainly organise for the next one? Any other supporters of this cause?

Kind Regards,

Mark.

pharkk.... planning another run already?

Dun think it's too short notice for this run, quick run round the group with a barf bag/bucket which we can then hand off to the Smokey's.

Shame about the bacon patrols being out in force. Another reason why we need to maintain decent separation b/w vehicles. don't want to get done for tailgating (& speeding).

What cars / club were they??[/quote]

It was just a group of mate's planed a day through the hills, no club day or anything. Just the reg boy racers skylines, 200sx, couple BMW M's, WRX's and 3 libertys. The funnys was a mates lib spec b sedan which was almost new at the time coped a major defect and it had no mod's done other than factory! (it passed a RWC at Subaru 2 days later without changing anything) just shows doesn't matter what u drive if they want to get u they will.

if anything we may see an SS with a radar out its side window and thats about it, if they there, so be it.

I think the skylines and 200sx would have been the cars that triggered the attention. It's not that they may have been driving good/bad or otherwise, it's simply that these cars are auto triggers. Having talked about this with an exTOG officer, it's more about the appearance of the drivers and stereotype cars.

I experienced this first hand when pulled over once at night for 'stunt driving' (their term, not mine) in my modified '05 WRX. One of the first things the officer said was "I expected a guy with a backwards cap, not you!" (I was wearing my suit, cufflinks, silk tie, etc). They let me go with a few frowns and warnings about how they could take my car under hoon laws.

I'm sure if we're all sensible and not being silly, it'll be a very pleasurable day with plenty of entertainment anyway.

Itching to get my suspension mods in so that I can make the next cruise...

I originally was going to get Stage 1 completed this saturday which would have been in time for this cruise but the date got moved back! Maybe by the next cruise I'll have Stage 2 complete :)

Having to endure driving stock suspension through some sweet twisties makes my eyes water :|

In the end it's all about attitude too as not all cops have made up their mind before they walk to your open window. I've been pulled over as part of a group in club cruises regularly and most of the time they are just doing their job and making it known that they're around and watching at some point or another.

Once they did a blitz on us at Albert Park and then set up a lidar trap just around a blind corner from where they let us go. It was a 40 zone anyway we are not that stupid (so soon after) and everyone was driving past it at about 20 ;)

Very true. 2 distinct trains of thought there.
