Probably. Everyone seems pretty happy with the plan.

On the way, as we'll be driving past it. See the maps.

There won't be any pressure to "keep up". Everyone will have the instructions, and we'll have plenty of stops for photos and regrouping.
The point isn't to get anywhere in a hurry, but more to enjoy the drive. :)

What are your thoughts on lunch?

I would prefer not to book into a place for lunch. I reckon a bakery stop and coffee
at King Lake might be all that's needed. I do want to spend some cash up there.

I know everyone was planning lunch stop in Yarra Glen, but there is a really nice place in Healesville called Innocent Bystander. There is no detour from the cruise. It's at the end of Myres Creek Rd where it runs into Maroondah Hwy.

You wouldn't need to book, and people can get lunch if they want (maybe 20 minute wait for food), or have a coffee, or a beer, or a wine tasting.

There is also plenty of parking in a big car park, so yet another photo opp.

Just a suggestion.

I guess i was thinking that seeing as though we are enjoying a bushfire affected town
like King Lake, the least we could do is spend a bit of coin to contribute (even in a small
way) to a business/businesses getting back on their feet.

I'm easy either way though

How about both?
Stop in Kinglake for a coffee, and again in Healesville for lunch.
It'll take us a bit under an hour to get to Kinglake from Doncaster, and comes after a lot of twisty roads, so there'll be a bit to chat about. ;)

If it's still there, this cafe has pretty good coffees (I stopped there on 2-Jan when we went up to pick some berries.)
It's over the road from the servo and restaurant that burned down, but I think this block of shops survived.
The bakery is right next door, which also does coffees.

TBH - the more stops the better for me - back still playing up when in the car for too long

Happy to stop at both and more than happy to help the Kinglake businesses. :good:.

I better get the car up to a worthy condition for those roads now (and for those that were on the last cruise - yes I can now turn left!!)

Just found this thread, the dates and the MASSIVE course.

Will need to socialise this with the fam as it's +45min drive from starting point for me, so it quickly turns into a 4-5hr exercise.

You boys don't believe in a quick blat do you.

You seriously want food and liquid in your stomach on events like this?

The last thing I'd be looking for is 2 kids <9yo and a wife with full stomachs in my car. They survived the last run on an empty tum. :-)

But I do agree, we should spend locally while there to help out local businesses as much as possible. Mind you, if there's 30+ of us, dive bombing one shop will possibly strip them of everything in one hit, so maybe a couple of locations could benefit.

I only asked as it was mentioned by libertygt in the original post. I am
probably happier skipping the lunch in Yarra Glen to get home quicker.
But as i metioned before, i'm easy!

Ric,

I went there a couple of days with my dad up there, and that cafe and the bakery did survive. Dad had some work up there, so was allowed in with him. Definitely some great roads up that way.

As for parking.. No.. Unless they've changed it since the fires, the parking there is very limited. If my memory serves me correct, the only parking there is along that strip infront of the cafe.

empty stomach undid Audrey a couple of weekends ago. She was much better after having something decent to eat. Different strokes for different folks I guess

There's angle parking for about 6 cars directly outside the bakehouse/coffeeshop/postoffice, plus a few more parallel parking over the road, and lots more in behind the shops.
