Haven't read all the thread... But you should be running 98 octane only in any Subaru running the EJ20T as far as I'm concerned

Without a doubt, best bang for your buck is going to be a re-tune. You'll gain some power & torque, plus you can get the throttle sharpened up. It makes the auto much nicer to drive IMO.

Of course, if you are planning on doing some other mods (Major or minor) I'd do them before the tune.

But since this thread is technically about mods on a budget, I'd probably get some sort of panel filter (HKS ) & remove the air box resonator then the tune If your pretty happy with the Lib in stock form, then you'll love the results you'll get from the above

I had a base tune done even prior to the dump pipe, centre and hitechs. I just had a panel filter resonator delete. The results were dramatic and I have regret about going this way. If you get a good tune first then tuning for those mods is simple anyway and re-tune was not expensive.

You might find you dont even want to mod the exhaust if you get a good tune?

I have done a stack of reading before choosing Pulse and starting with a Tune, have `lurked' for about a year or so. Great to read you backing all that up!

The resonator/panel thing seemed inconclusive so hadn't bothered, but it's definitely cheap! My previous car (Type R) lost power on a dyno with it's resonator removed.

MRT have an interesting read on the tuning of MY04-05 Lib GT's as they do some power up kits for the Lib GT.

MRT gear is quite expensive though.
