Haha - temporary accommodation (house being built now with 3 garages!!).

Damn block we're on wasn't wide enough for our desired 3 car garage. Was only able to extend the double 1.7m wider, which is a good start but no extra car space. Will have to do with 6.4m width.

Sentinel & Cpitts,

Check the link fro some photos of my car. Tints also done at Option Tinting. 15% - front, 35% - rear and quarter & 20% rear windscreen. The link has a photo with original privacy glass and 35% front and then 2 pics with new tints.

Does look spot on birch, but surely the cops will have a field day with that? 15% is just soooo dark. And also sooooo far from legal.

Sorry guys, I'm being a party pooper I know... But I know you love info etc, but the tint is done... If you wanna talk details, start another thread, put the info in the thread already open on tinting or take it to PM.

Update - 22 May - Some Good Stuff

Postby Sentinel » Sun May 24, 2009 9:09 pm

OK, so I finally sorted out my wheel issue, got the suspension fitted and after a few weekends in the garage I finished my grille to about 90% to enable it to be fitted, and lastly, I fitted up some mesh in the lower grille... :D

Pics updated in the first post.

For those of you who are interested in my wheel issue - I initially bought some HR 19x8's +45 but upon fitting them, they stuck out so far that I couldn't drop the car off the jacks!! Turns out that even though the wheels were stamped 8", they actually measured at 8.5"!! Needless to say, with an offset of +45 there is no way they were going to fit so I returned them. I then spent the next 4 weeks looking for more alternatives. Found the GMAX Defiance which a is great looking wheel but I didn't what the lip... So they were my fall back wheel. Anyway, cut a long story short, I found some wheels and got a local dealer to ship them in. BD's 19x8.5".... Beautiful wheel - aggressive but elegant I call them. And fit perfect! Kudos to Jim for assistance with the offset.

Enjoy!

Hey Steve,

Nice rims, they look great.
Any chance of pics of grill from front on and what badge did you use?

Thanks Alex. See here for a few more pics including grille (although you can't see the mesh...) -> http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.p ... &start=165

Very clean looking setup.

Wheels aren't my style but each to their own.
Grille's come up nice from the shots in the other thread.

What's the verdict on the new found handling improvements?

Looks awesome! Great work! Chrome of the wheels match the wheels a bit, although if you blacked out the chrome surround of the grill it would look nice too! :D

When you get a chance, scratch off the red dots on the tire sidewalls, and apply a bit of tire shine to match the gloss of the black pearl!

Craig,

'Handling' has improved out of site! What speed I'd normally take a round-about at (for example) feels like I'm now doing it 20-30 slower. And bugger all body movement or role - all greatly improved.

Also noticed that on accel and braking that the car doesn't "lurch" anywhere near as much.

The ride quality is good too. It's better than I thought it would be. I was a tad concerned when I was contemplating the suspension, but after I read through Jim's post, I figured I'd give it a go. The EDFC makes a difference as you change the settings while in the car so you can drive the same road back to back to get a verdict - quite a noticeable shift from the firmest setting to the softest.

With the 19's and 35 profile, again I expected it to kill the ride, but I'll say that it's just firmer than the Spec B. Very happy with it.

I'll be honest though, I went for 19's for looks only and the best set up for handling would have to be the 18's with the Teins. The 19's make the ride a little skittish on 'considerably' broken up corners but it's not often that I'm at the limit on dodgy roads...

So all 'n all, I very happy with the performance of the suspension and the look of it.
