This is exactly what I what from my tune :)

Big torque figures, that kick into the seat is what I wanna fell.

As a member of the Vic WRX Club, you get some additional discount on parts, not labour. Reflash is a part. :-)

This will firstly help your tuner more than likely to get some handle on tunning can bus ecu. The MAF on our Gen IV cars can have some issues with aftermarket air intake systems.

140 kw at the wheel seems about right to me but as mentioned by cpitts I would be asking the tuner to tune the AFR safely in the 11's. Peak torque would also be helpful so graphs will help us comment further.

For me I wanted the car to be response on throttle and early as possible. My boost is on at 2200 and finishes at 3400...the result is a damn big kick in the bottom end and a torque figure 416. What does that mean? I can get the back end loose on dry pavement but top speed is not as good obviously.

good luck with the testing and tune

i'm after a similliar result. want the car to be more useable across majority of RPMs and not a neck breaking sudden increase of power.

i honeslty can't be bothered digging up the stock airbox. more so that i've given away my HKS panel filter.

most of us here have some type of air filter/exhaust mods anyways, and in the greather scheme of things, it's really considered next to nothing...

ART is made up of Dean and Ray, dean is now in asia and ray is running it basically. they are located at heildelburg west (yes... i can't spell).

i go to them cos i get honest, unbiased advice. if you like, you can give them a call on +61 394590880 to discuss what you're after. i know that ART is where tangcla gets most (if not all) of his stuff done as well.

ok, so i've been slack on chasing this up...

but here's the dyno sheet from last week (i think)

he's done more tweaks to it so take this chart as an indication.

the issue he's having right now is that it's detonating on the dyno, but fine when on the road.

The PDF is about 1MB.

I expected a few more neddies than that given those basic mods. What mufflers are in the Perrin? How free flowing are they?

EDIT: Have you tried picking a different fuel for a test on the pinging on the dyno? Optimax has a long history of det. Alternatively, a bigger TMIC will fix the issue. Oh the upgrades we need.

That's about what I expected in terms of kw atw for those mods. As mentioned a bigger tmic will assist plenty and certainly a change of fuel is worth a go. I was at about that stage with similar mods then did dump pipe and avo tmic at the same time which got me to 163 kw at the wheel with a very good tune.

i'm thinking about going FMIC and mounting an oil cooler where the OEM intercooler is.

all come down to $ i guess, which for me is quite tight right now.

fmic is def optimum for making power but you then are faced with the issue of having a maxed out stock turbo. Its a never ending list if you are constantly searching for increased power. I honestly think that 180 kw is the max you will get out the VF46 but that's still a very nice amount of power for our cars. Also tuning on a dyno with fans forcing air into your scoop will net you as much as driving on the open road will. What sort of ambient temps were your tuners getting when they tuned your car?

Ah, that answers that question for me. Looks like a TMIC is going to be on my list then before I get the ECU done. :( I'm looking for 165kW ATW minimum for my car as that gets me back to where I was with the last Subaru. Was really hoping for 180kW+ though, but given the dyno I'll be using, that could be a little bit easier as it tends to read on the high side. (AVO Melbourne)

I suggest you shop around and do some homework on the tmic available. My AVO is not bad but my mechanic and tuner both reckon the stock sti tmic is far more efficient but is obviously smaller than the AVO.

Interesting. By STi do you mean the WRX STi cooler? The TBSTi is the same as the GT-B unit.

There are plenty of good core makers out there so it's just a case of getting a decent one that fits under the GT-B bonnet and more-so getting air onto it. The scoop hole is VERY small and getting a decent pressure front across a core is a very tricky thing.

Time for a new thread I think. Something to create tonight while watching Sarah Conner Chronicles I think ;)

Hmmmm, VERY interesting.
Need to know pressure loss across the core and Watt dissipation ability of cores me thinks. Time to investigate. ;)
