Removing intake resonator...

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Guys

Was wondering if any of you in Sydney can help me out.

I have read the instructions on removal of resonator and for 99% of you guys it maybe a breeze. However I'm not the most mechanically competent person around and was stuck after I removed the panel filter.

A "reputable" workshop quoted me $80 for just this let alone the other mods he was trying to sell to me. Again I'm no mechanic but $80 is a bit rich I think?

So on that note can anyone on here give me a hand on this, apparently it only takes 15-20min?

Thanks
Kevin

Kevin, which part of Sydney are you in? I'm sure there's bound to be someone who's removed the resonator near you.

Sheesh, $80!?

As Jim said, there should be someone around your area who has done it or else a last resort could be to show up at the next meet with some tools. :)

Yeah, sheesh! Even I only charge $79.95! :D

But as Clarence said it's a 15 min job at most. Wow, that's a cool $320 an hour at that shop.

i quote $79.50

Kevin, It's one of those jobs that is reeeally easy.... if you have the right tools. Please don't pay $80 bucks for it.

Haha. This thread is slowly doing a cross over with this other one: http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?t=3887

But yeah guys, take some pics! That would be great reference material for the forum! A lot of us have done it but it's hard to describe step by step to someone else how to do it. Pics do the job better. :D

Well, providing the 3 litre is the same as the 4 cylinder models, I'll get some pics in the morning when I play with mine.

Now to find that camera and charge it....

It helps if you've got "girly asian hands" haha which I don't have, and it was a relatively simple task for me. With the right tools and a bit of wrist disfiguration, it took me about 20 mins.

EDIT - Ah it slowly came back to me. I think the resonator is connected to the 2nd half of the air box, you can tell because there is a hole at the bottom of it which is connected to a sort of piss bottle-like thing. Carefully unscrew this whole thing, and remove the bottle. Said bottle looks like this.
