What's your dyno numbers look like?

Postby eetz » Sat May 14, 2022 12:41 am

Hi, I have 07 Lib GTB 5EAT and I'm making 190awkw on the MSR Dyno.

Mod list:
- Ultrex dump
- XForce catback
- VF52 Turbo with 18g billet GTX wheel
- Cobb CAI
- Mishimoto turbo inlet
- HKS BOV

Numbers look a bit low, have seen other threads with guys who make 10-15 more kw on the same setup or even less. Thoughts?

I've got pretty much exactly what you have except I also installed a boost controller, new fuel pump and cold plugs and an AVO tmic before the tune and also a Megan Racing catless dump and it's making 180 on 16lb and achieves max boost at 2700 rpm .. You can easily make more power by winding up the boost and that's what people do. As a rule it is 10kwt per lb of boose. So if I had mine tuned at 18psi it would make 200kwts, but, if I drove it the way I like to drive, go to the drags etc, it probably wouldn't still be making 200 on 18 in 5-10 years timeand I keep my cars. My CSE2 GC8 (2.5ltr) rex is still making 180 on 16lb and and that was last tuned in 2008.. It's seen lots of drags, track days etc and is just as good now as it was in 2008. You also have to remember that some tuners manipulate the outcome by using different gears etc. Anything to get people telling their mates that they make 200kw on 15lb... Our Sti (forged internals) makes 204 on 15lb but that is legit and due mainly to the new ECU that name of which escapes me atm.. What was the result of your tune ???

There seems to be a bit of variation dyno to dyno - and that's before we start looking at figures on American dynos.

For what it's worth, 180-200kw for a VF52 and those mods seems to be the normal range on my understanding.

Considering a stock one is around 126kw atw, not the 160ish Subaru claim because manufacturers always use KWTS at the FLY wheel..not the wheels of the car. So if you can get 180 with 16lb you have increased ATW kwts by almost 50%...and without putting to much stress on the engine/transmission etc. I'm very happy with that result. Still waiting to hear what 'your' dyno figures are !!!!! What gear they used..ge 3rd 4th etc, and at what rpm it achieved max boost...

Seems fine as others have said. Asked your tuner what they think?

Other parts are intercooler for colder charge and injectors if they are starting to max out duty cycle.

You can get a Tactrix cable and monitor things like air temp and injector duty yourself but I'd be asking your tuner what they think was the limiting factor if you are chasing more power.
