eattsie's Liberty GT Wagon

Hey All

New to the forum and Subi's in general jumping over from an 04 xr6 falcon that i've owned for 9 years (gonna miss it). Just picked up an 04 gt wagon with 5 speed manual with 131xxxkms. got a few things to tidy up but hoping it should be a good fun daily that I can use to take my wife and daughter camping and drag my Kart trailer and gear to races. Already had a heap of mods done by a previous owner guy I bought it off wasn't too sureon exactly what had been done but I was still silly enough to buy it  . From what i can gather so far its got

- Aftermarket intercooler
- Aftermarket BOV
- Aftermarket exhaust
- Kenwood double din head unit
- reverse camera
- Re003s
- whiteline swaybars front and rear
- kobe intake pipe
- factory tow bar with "weight reduction mod" AKA someone ripped the trailer plug off and just left me some wiring...

As far as I can gather the original owner that modded it spared no cost and has done a great job.

Fix List:

fix sun roof/moon window won't open
extend exhaust tips so i stop getting soot on rear bumper
rear end seems to sag a bit especially with some weight in the boot or passengers (possibly worn springs?)
get it tuned and checked over
re-spray a couple of sections with paint damage
wire in a new trailer plug

Future Mod List:
replace grill with that mesh one you see everyone with
sti lip
eyelids maybe
roof racks
replace wheels with some nice 18s once the re003's are ready to replace
new rotors and pads (got a bit of brake shudder at high speed braking)
better speakers
strut brace
braided brake lines
maybe some dynamat in the boot to help with exhaust drone at 100kph+

Hello and Welcome!

Car looks nice and clean, I'm sure you will be much more happy in the Lib than an 04 falcon (boat) Haha
Good list of tasteful yet subtle mods :)

From the pics i can see this hose is unplugged, be sure to plug this in as Subies do not like vac leaks...

Hey, Thanks for that, I actually realised I hadn't reconnected it when I took the photo after removing engine cover :P

In other news I've got the car booked in to go to Maximum Motorsport in Perth to get it checked over and road tested to make sure everything's as it should be and see if its had a tune in the past.

I've also had a look at the sunroof and it looks like the tilt mechanism is stuff. which from what I can gather reading online isn't a quick, easy, cheap or fun fix.... off to a good start!

Nice one!
Be sure to get your FSM, details here:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=34980

Take a look at the tune faq too.

If the sunroof won’t crank open, size up a working replacement cartridge from a self serve wreckers.
If the sunroof has been stuck shut for a while it may take a bit of force to break the seal of dust in the opening.

I recently replaced the brushes in my motor, the rails needed a fair bit of waterproof grease and bicycle chain lube to get the mech to run freely.

Thanks for the info/links

The sunroof opens but the moon roof part doesn't. Had a close look and some broken bits so guessing it'll be a trip to the wreckers.

Today I wired up a new trailer plug. Not exciting but needed to be done as I need to drag the kart trailer next weekend.

There’s at least one instance here, of a member actually fabricating a replacement part for their busted front section.
Can you see which part is faulty?

Ye I can see whats broken. I'll post some photos next time I'm on the computer. Would of been handy if it seen it working properly before it broke, would make figuring out the issue a bit easier...

had the wagon and Maximum Performance in Perth earlier in the week for a good check over.

Good news is it got a reasonably clear bill of health with main issues being a few worn bushes.

One issue though, they tried to check for a tune and found that it appears it has had a tune but how its been done has locked them out of the ECU.

has anybody experienced this before?

Thanks

You’d want to get in touch with member madman sean.
He’s an ecu unbricker etc.
As for keeping track of the cars health via obdii, Btssm app on android or Romraider on pc.
If your tune is good (checked via logging and learning view with the above tools.
If you require a retune, ecutek needs an unlock, ThrottleHappy aka kido needs iirc to be flashed back to stock before another non ThrottleHappy retune.
Either way Sean can probably advise.
Or look up the tunes actual name via ecu flash/tactrix on pc.

Can you crank the moonroof open? If not check the sun blind pusher rods are attached, or they may be jamming that section.

Btssm summary:

Btssm app from playstore,

Aussie vendor clear blue case usb A plug vagcom,

any android device with otg, use otg? app from playstore to check,

eBay otg to usb A female adapter if/as required for your android device.

Use this guide, the Btssm online manual and other related FAQ’s to get started.

viewtopic.php?f=56&t=20196&start=0

There may be issues with certain brand new devices running the latest android version, best check the lgt Btssm thread v2 for updates regarding.
https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread. ... ost5892434

Otherwise, the app works well on even ancient devices and android versions eg Samsung SGS i900 for example.
